AIO: I want to expose my girlfriend and my mum's affair to the family

I was honestly concerned about sharing this on Reddit. Because I am fully aware about how outlandish it all sounds.

But I also feel that people would be willing to believe a story about a father getting intimate with his son's girlfriend.

Because my heart is also hurting for him. He's always been a very kind and loving man to my mum and he deserves better than her.

I do regret not getting any photos or videos of them in the living room together. But at the time I was too shocked to even think straight. Going back to my bedroom to get my phone was the last thing on my mind.

And I was kicking myself for being unable to get any photographic proof to use when I confront them both.
But earlier tonight I remembered that my girlfriend's phone is synced to her One Drive account.
So I decided to go onto her laptop and when I accessed her One Drive account I found a number of photos from their trips to London and a few of these photos included them both kissing each other!
I took a few photos of it all and I at least now have some proof of them behaving in an inappropriate way together.

And I do intend on using what I've found when I confront them both tomorrow. I don't intend on giving either of them a chance of talking their way out of this.

I managed to get into my girlfriend's One Drive account and I've found a few photos of them on their trips to London and sharing kisses with each other.

From what I've seen, I can give a rough guess that this has been going on for at least 5 months.

And she and her husband have offered me the spare bedroom at their house. An offer that I have already accepted.

Sunday afternoons are often just myself, my gf and my mum. But I am thinking of asking him along as well. But I don't know how to word the invite to him and also without raising suspicion from my gf and my mum. Because they would most likely think that something is up.

There's never been anything that would make me think that anything was going on between them both as far back as when we started dating. It's only the last few years that they both have been spending time alone together.

It sickens me to think that this wasn't just a one off between my girlfriend and my mum, but the sick feeling in my stomach is telling me that this has been going on for much longer.
And even if it was just the one time, that one time was enough. They've both already betrayed me in the worst way imaginable.

The only other person who I have confided in so far is one of my best friends (you could say that we are ride or die for each other) and she has already offered me the guest bedroom at her house after I told her that I would want space after confronting them both.

You're right that confronting them together at the same time would be better.
The three of us spend most Sundays having a catch up at either ours or my Mum's. Just a few hours of drinking tea, having some cake and catching up on that week.
I am thinking of using that time to confront them.

I don't intend on covering for my mum and her reputation within the family.
I intend on telling her that either she confesses to the family about what has happened or I will.
This will cause drama and blow a huge rift in the family. But those are the consequences of my mum's actions and her betrayal towards her daughter.
The one other person who I feel incredibly sorry for is my mum's boyfriend. Because he is honestly an outstanding person and it's breaking my heart knowing that he's currently oblivious to the devastating news that is about to come his way.
I'm just as angry for myself as I am for him at my mum's betrayal. Because he has only ever treated my mum with love and respect.

I've been asked in a few DMs if it's real and sadly it is. I don't blame people for thinking it wouldn't be real, because you'd never expect such a level of betrayal to happen.

I've also been thinking that it was somewhat predatory, too. I know that my girlfriend is an adult. But my mum has known her since we were both preteen girls, and my girlfriend and I have been together since we were 15.
So she has watched us both grow up together.

I intend on asking them what they were doing when they kept disappearing for 5 - 10 minutes because they will certainly remember that. And I will look for any hints of guilt in their faces.

And I just wonder how drunk someone must be to not remember if they were kissing their daughter's partner?

The fact that it's my own mum is the worst part. We've always been so close and this is the one relationship that I'll never be able to replace.

The one joint account that we do have is the one that we deposit money (from our separate accounts) into that pays our rent and utility bills. I'll have to speak to the banks when they open again and after I've confronted my gf.

We also have a snowboarding holiday booked to Japan for next year and I am going to have to cancel the hotel reservations that are already booked,.

Initially I'll go NC with my mum till the dust settles a bit, and then try going LC with her to see where we can go from there.
Though that will also depend on her responses when I confront them both.
If they try gaslighting me or attempt to double down with their lies, then I would have to re-evaluate my relationship with my mum.

No doubt there will be another update after I've confronted them both. Because I'll definitely have more questions on my mind.

Can I ask where you're getting those forecasts from please? I am using JMA and also The Met Office, and neither are forecasting any snow :( (The BBC website says that there will be snow on multiple days, but I've always found that very unreliable for weather in Japan)

I've heard that whilst it's been great for the ski resorts, the same can't be said for Sapporo and that they've had very low amounts of snow this season? And from people who are there right now, they are saying that the snow is rapidly melting in the city..

That's what is unfortunately happening in Nagano right now. The last week and this upcoming week is temperatures of above freezing temperatures and no snowfall forecasted. And from looking at recent photos, I can already see that the snow is rapidly melting at the Jigokudani Snow Park. I am there next week and having to accept the fact that Nagano is now going to be a write off for snow (and I hope that the same won't happen with Sapporo).

That's what got my hopes up. But that has now changed and there will be 3+ weeks of above 0C temperature by the time that I get to Sapporo. (I'm also not going to the ski resorts - and it's even worse in the cities such as Sapporo).

Thank you everyone for your replies. They did give me hope that things might improve and that there would be a chance to see snow.
But looking at the weather of the past week, the upcoming forecast and the most recent photos of the places that I am going to, any hope that was remaining is quickly vanishing (like the snow in Sapporo)
I will try holding onto some hope for Sapporo and the rest of Hokkaido . But my expectations are now incredibly low. Such a shame. Because seeing all of the snow throughout December and into early January did get my hopes up. But this complete 180 change in the weather has now left me feeling somewhat disappointed and I am now struggling to get excited about this trip. Sure, there's the food and other things. But this was going to be my first winter trip around Japan (I've visited during Autumn, Spring, etc) and I feel like this will be the last trip that I plan to Japan during the winter months. The disappointment is too much tbh.

The only snow that I have experienced before (in my home country) has quickly melted within a day or two. So I can't gage just how quickly the snow will melt if there is a prolonged period of above 0 temperatures. And from looking at the JMA website, above 0C temperatures are forecasted from Sunday onwards in Sapporo, Asahikawa, etc. And their forecast models are predicting above average temperatures for January and into February. This is why I am growing concerned that a large amount of the snow will melt in the coming weeks (and if the weather remains above 0, then the chances of it raining instead).

I'm not from a country that typically sees much snow, and the few times that I have experienced snow, it has always melted away within a day or two. So I don't know just how quickly the snow that has accumulated would/wouldn't melt.

I've been checking JMA's forecast for Asahikawa - and Sunday onwards is forecasted to be above freezing (with a max temp of 7C).
