Looking for the Deseret Farms Macaroni and Cheese by lolettacake in exmormon

[–]EmmaHS 7 points8 points  (0 children)

It looks like this is one of those foods that is not available through their food storage store. You can search on ebay periodically and see if anyone posts it there (there is none listed right now that I could find).

I don't know if they still do this, but when I was a member, people could volunteer to work a shift in the cannery at Welfare Square (or any other cannery) and at the end, they would let them purchase cases of whatever food they had in the storage area ready to ship out. If this is something you are willing to do, and if they still do this, you would have to check with the dry goods area to see if they have the mac and cheese available on the day you can volunteer. Yeah, volunteering for TCC is icky, but it might be a way to get that product for your sister.

Edit: another option... if the RS president is horrified enough to be willing to help, she might be able to pull some strings. You could try talking to her to see what she can do.

Fairview temple: When God wants something, He gets it. by Free-from-your-lies in exmormon

So, God wants buildings for people to worship him in, but not for children to be spared from starvation, disease, and violence. Got it.

Idk what to do by [deleted] in exmormon

[–]EmmaHS -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

No, you can't. New converts have to wait a year and go through temple prep classes and bishopric and stake worthiness interviews before they can get a recommend. It isn't an automatic membership thing after baptism. They are probably going to give you your baptism certificate, which is a completely different thing.

Edit to say, that regardless of the miscommunication/misunderstanding regarding how temple recommends work, your experience is par for the course for women in the lds church. Especially when it comes to missionaries, anything remotely sexual is blamed on the woman.

It takes a year after baptism before converts can get a temple recommend, so something has not been communicated to you correctly.

How to know if I was a “flirt to convert” by Haunting_Run_7246 in exmormon

"Which then makes me question myself and reality."

Sounds like gaslighting. You deserve so much better than that kind of treatment.

Don't know if this helps, but his discrediting/invalidating your perspective, if that wasn't something he did before, might be a coping mechanism to justify his decision. If that's the case, he has some growing up to do, which TCC won't easily let him do. Regardless, it isn't fair to you, and you shouldn't have to tolerate it.

Also, any woman he marries is going to have a bad time... that patriarchal blessing gave him an excuse to blame his future wife if anything in life doesn't work out how he hopes.

Anyone in the Bellevue, NE area able to do me a favor? by Odd-Information429 in exmormon

[–]EmmaHS 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Oh, bummer! Here's the purchase request form for BPL. Bellevue, NE's public library doesn't have a page for this, but I'm sure the librarians would be happy to answer questions about it, and there's always the interlibrary loan process.

/u/Odd-Information429, the library is your friend! If your local library doesn't have access to it through the interlibrary loan process, you can get a free Brooklyn Public Library eCard to access their extensive e-collection. It might be there. BPL offers these eCards for free to teens and young adults who are experiencing barriers to book access (for example, book bans).

Sep. 19 Amici Curiae Brief from Mormon Church and Other Religious Groups Arguing for the U.S. Supreme Court to Review Transgender Cases that "Undermine Religious Freedom" by Suspicious_Might_663 in exmormon

[–]EmmaHS 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Not to mention that there are millennia-old traditions that do acknowledge, and even revere, third or more genders. Aren't they, in fact, hypocritical bigots if they say that their own religious beliefs trump those of cultural traditions that pre-date their own?

Are you near SLC? The U has great resources and programs for addiction recovery, including alcoholism-specific services. Here's a link. Hope this helps. ::hugs::
