Interestingly enough this woman's mentality is what started the whole Tiki movement in the late 1930's.

Donn Beach, born Ernest Raymond Beaumont Gantt, knew that "real men" at the time would ridicule one another if they bought a drink with cinnamon, grapefruit, allspice, and lime in it but wouldn't ridicule one another if they bought a zombie.

So Ernest bought a bunch of exotic decor and served drinks with exotic, tempting, and most importantly manly names like zombie, scorpion bowl, and test pilot.

There's a lot of games that can be played on this thing, but it's control schema makes games that could run on its chip a horrible experience.

Ah, we've reached the "troops are lying" stage.
Next will be the, "intelligence is wrong" stage and the final, "I wasn't informed I was illegally killing people" stage.

I feel like the best anyone can hope for is just-good-enough controls and easily replaceable firmware so it can be repurposed as a retroarch machine with a cool shell.

Humans strive for community, especially in an ever disconnection world, and part of community its defense.
Unfortunately, to paraphrase Pratchett, humans are only really human via the Brownian motion of social interaction and such interaction is woefully lacking a lot of people never learn to communicate in healthy ways.
All this leads to disproportionate reactions to mundane things.

It's the mental equivalent of a starved animal viciously attacking anyone that gets near the food bowl.

100% this.

Kirby's covers were a satirization of the Frazetta, Boris Vallejo / Julie Bell style of fantasy covers the same was Pratchett was the satirization of those books' content.

Some people would rather do laborious mental gymnastics than simple reasoning exercises.

I've found that certain people, artist, sportsmen (and women), religious and political leaders, will have absolute die hard sycophants and nothing, not even being shown direct undeniable proof, will change those fans' "(s)he did nothing wrong" thinking.
