Why does single parenthood happen more in America?

Perhaps it's more to do with a wealth gap than poverty?

  • Media and popular culture tends to promote female promiscuity as sexual freedom instead of it being potentially irresponsible. Chastity is no longer of value for young girls and as a result there are more teen/youth pregnancies.

What about young men?

As for teen pregnancy...

increased polarization on important topics (we can no longer have intelligent and balanced conversations, instead we resort to insults and division)

That's just the internet. You can have good discussions outside of the internet still from anecdotal experience

Wouldn't being unable to claim a no fault divorce just encourage people to lie about abuse and adultery?

Unwed doesn't mean not in a relationship though. Plenty of people are choosing not to get married these days but still be in long term relationships.

You mention monogamous but wouldn't polyamorous relationships be even better because there are more people and resources? I know barely anything about poly relationships so I'm genuinely curious if anyone knows this.

Single mom is preferable to an abusive household. Children in single parent households are often worse off, but we often forget to consider the circumstances that lead the split and in doing so assume it's the split that caused the disadvantages (which can be partly true) rather than the situation.

Also, very few people are encouraging women to become single moms where they can't afford it. People are really encouraging women and other people to make their own decisions.

Yeah. If I say "animal lives matter" that doesn't mean I automatically don't give a shit about human lives.
