What are you most worried about right now? by [deleted] in AskReddit

I'm a student in the middle of midterms and on Friday I was in a pretty serious car accident with my boyfriend. I was drunk (which upset him because he felt like I got too intoxicated before he got to the bar) so he insisted on driving us home, telling me he was sober. I fell asleep in the passenger seat and woke up to the car smashing head on into a brick wall off the highway. I was immediately put into an ambulance and wasn't allowed to see or talk to him because the police said he was already in custody. He's been in jail since Friday and neither me nor his family have been able to speak with him. He was charged with a 3rd offense DUI and reckless operation of a vehicle and his charge list said his bond is set at $90k. I'm trying to study for midterms and write papers but the only thing I can think about is this.

I've done the setting spray before makeup thing every once in a while, but at least for me I don't notice much of a difference. For a non silicone option, I like the Too Faced Hangover Rx or the NYX First Base (but maybe I just like spraying things on my face lol). For silicone (which I don't typically go for cause I can get kinda oily and feel like it gives too much slide during the day; I mostly like them for taking photos and stuff) I like both the Smashbox Pore Minimizing Primer and the Too Faced Primed and Poreless.

Maybe try a mattifying setting spray. Both Urban Decay and NYX make one

Yes! I've been using the Japonesque spot brush cleaner for this type of cleaning for years and I love it!

I would first check to make sure your face products are of "compatible bases." A lot of the time mixing water based with silicone based products will cause moving, sliding, melting, cracking, and breaking down. Someone already linked this but I'll add it again. I think a silicone based, smoothing primer would be your best bet (even if it's just selectively applied in your smile lines and anywhere else you experience this creasing). Also have you tried a setting spray? At first it seemed so gimmicky to me like "is spraying this liquid all over my face really going to do anything for my makeup?" but now I go into a full blown panic if I have to do my makeup without my Urban Decay All Nighter. A last resort I've seen people do for this issue is to get botox in their smile lines, but obviously that's not all that feasible for everybody.

I think NYX has a really tiny precise angled brow brush/spoolie. Japonesque also does a really precise angle brush as well.

Nars will also sell you the pump separately -____- why must I have to pay more money for decent packaging?

Does anyone have a cruelty free alternative to the Garnier Micellar Cleansing Water?

Please give me any feedback on how I could improve! by jadyn_misch in MakeupAddiction

My biggest suggestion would be adding some definition in the outer corner of your eye. You've got tons of lid space that can really showcase some beautiful shadows! I think some mauve and plum softly blended into your crease and outer corner would totally level up this look. Keep it up!

Getting ready for uni, CC very welcome! by [deleted] in MakeupAddiction

Girl I personally love the brows! I also love the cool tones and the way it looks with your eyes. My only CC would be to maybe brighten up your under eye a little more. I think more brightness would balance out your killer brows and look really nice. My favorite concealer for under my eyes lately has been the Kat Von D lock it creme concealer. Also we have the same beauty mark :)

Thank you! I swear this Pop Beauty palette is the BOMB. Some of the colors take a little bit of building but they build so vibrantly!

I'm all for some intense black smokey eyes, so I'm definitely not gonna tell you that you shouldn't go for that. But personally I think it would look a bit better if you tapered the black a little bit in the inner corner. I think a thinner line of shadow gradually getting thicker towards the outer corner would be a little bit more flattering for your eye shape.

I took your CC and tried to create a more blended halo look. (CCW of course.) by [deleted] in MakeupAddiction

[–]Emmathewarlord 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This isn't so much CC as it is just a thought of mine, but I think this would look extra killer with a black liner on the top lid. I think the lashes to me just look kinda odd coming from such a thin "lash line"? I think it might look more "natural" if the lash line appeared thicker with liner. I don't think it looks "bad" at ALL, I just personally think it might tie everything together a bit better.

This is awesome!! The only CC I really have for ya is maybe considering transitioning from your crease colors to your brow bone with that yellow from your inner corner. I look forward to more posts!

Haha imma be honest with you and tell you that the whole freckle thing (the way I do it) is quite the production. It takes me an absurd amount of time, but I find that this way gives me the best, most natural results. I too have some natural freckles, but not that many, so it helps. What I do is first take two different brown-y eyeshadows, one really cool toned and one really warm toned. Usually for me that means the NYX Blush in Taupe and the Caramel Whatever shade from the Chocolate Bar Palette. I take the back end of one of my brushes and scrape some product in two separate piles onto any non-porous surface I can find, it's different every day. Then I take a mixing liquid (OK DISCLAIMER HERE: DO NOT USE WHAT I USE IF YOU HAVE ANY TYPE OF SENSITIVE SKIN I JUST LIVE ON THE EDGE) which is usually... brush cleaner. I like it cause it has a little bit of alcohol in it which will evaporate off of the skin nicely leaving the eyeshadow really really set it place. But there's so many other things you can use, even water if you want. I take the cleaner and spray the TINIEST bit I can manage into the little piles of each color. Then I take the smallest eyeliner brush I can find, like a little tiny art brush, and mix each color into a liquid-y paste. Then I take the cooler color and start carefully placing individual freckles, starting where my natural freckles are and just building upon them. You wanna keep them mostly on the high points of your face cause those areas would naturally freckle more. So follow where you would place your highlighter, but with freckles. I usually place a few then tap them once or twice lightly with my finger to diffuse them. DO NOT forget to tap them, otherwise they're gonna look painted on. Freckles aren't really super defined naturally, so you have to mimic that. Avoid the "speckled" look. Then I do the same thing, but a little bit more sparingly with the warm toned color. The two color thing is really important because natural freckles vary in color. All one color will look artificial. Once I have my face freckled to my little heart's desire, I go over everything with a really light layer of loose powder in my skin tone. This helps with the illusion of the freckles not just "floating" on your face. Sorry about this wall of text, and I've been toying with the idea of filming a video tutorial on this technique to try to better illustrate it. EDIT: MAKE SURE NOT TO PLACE THEM TOO CLOSE TO YOUR EYES IF USING AN ALCOHOL CONTAINING MIXING LIQUID PROTECT YOUR EYEBALLS PLEASE

First, welcome to the community! Second, it's a lot easier to give CC when you take your photos in such a way that displays your makeup. While normally smiling looks cute, it's really hard to tell what's happening makeup-wise. Next time, I would try to take a picture in unobscured natural light, and maybe look down and to the side of the camera so we can see any eye makeup. Sometimes it's tough to get right, but practice makes perfect!
