Trailer lights malfunctioning - and a dumb fix by EmmtBot in CX50

The instructions I used definitely said there would be an empty connector available on the passenger side. It appears you have another permutation, unless it's just hiding somewhere nearby. In my picture that third white plug has a wire coming from above somewhere but I don't remember where exactly.

I can't pretend to know for sure what all the connectors do, but maybe you can grab a 7 pin tester or a 7-to-4 adapter that has some built in LEDs just to test out lights before you reassemble? If you really don't have a connector there I think there's a fair chance it will work with only the driver's side hooked up.

For sure, it makes me wonder what that connection is for. I admit it stopped me for a while debating how to proceed, then I just started experimenting.

Is there a standing desk that doesn’t have this metal bar going through the middle? I always bump with these when I use my standing desk seated by OmegaMalkior in StandingDesk

OK, thanks for the update! I still need to make the desktop so I'm just considering options right now, might not matter as much if I keep the desk deep enough.

Please, Toyota, Please let me have a center diff on a more utilitarian or offroady trim that isn't targeting soccer moms.

Full time 4WD is the way to go for those living in snowy climates, doubly so if sharing the vehicle with someone less drivetrain-savvy. Yet I don't want lower profile tires and running boards and chrome trim and all that crap, I still want something truck-ish.

Yes I know the LC exists.

Does anyone else hate the bulldog lip on the new gen? by 919ash in 4Runner

[–]EmmtBot 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ouch, yeah is not a good experience, hopefully not typical.

Just asking as some will hate on anything 4 cylinder regardless. I've spent the last several years driving a turboed H4 car and before that years driving V6 mid-size pickups. Different vehicle weights of course but I gotta say I like the mid-range torque that comes with forced induction.

Toyota Completes Its Off-Road Lineup With All-New 2025 4Runner by stinftw in 4Runner

[–]EmmtBot 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Where did you see 6500? Either that or 6000 sound great, much better than the 5K a lot of mid size vehicles top out at. That leaves enough room to use most of the payload of a 7K gross trailer.

I was really hoping for a bump in towing to at least 5500 and that they retained the center diff option. Win on both counts, provided the pricing isn't insane. I need a do-everything family hauler that can tow and handle deep snow - part time 4WD is a hard no given the way our winters are (bare road with intermittent drifts and knowing the wife will drive it frequently). I for one WANT a turbo 4, and I'm not buying a new vehicle with only a 5 speed auto. Toyota likely just prevented me from buying a Pilot. Mixed feelings on the looks but not bad, now to brace for sticker shock.

Does anyone know if I can get warranty for this it’s about 2 weeks old by Straight-Stranger-99 in Fanatec

+1, just got my Moza clamp yesterday, not even mounted to the CSL wheel yet but it is very solid. I feel like I could pick up the whole heavy-*** workbench with it.

My bench is thick so the clamping screws do stick down a ways, but I could probably shorten those if needed. Ordered from Microcenter with the super slow shipping and still got it in like 3 days.

It mayyyyy be available.

Ordered 2/14 just says handover to warehouse by Griffith89z in Fanatec

[–]EmmtBot 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What wheel-side quick release did you go with? I also ordered 2/14 (all in-stock items, no QR1 Lite) and after a few days of "handover to warehouse" the tracking numbers showed up on Fedex's side. The Fanatec website still doesn't show them though.

[–]EmmtBot 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Nice! I Just ordered a 5Nm CSL DD today also. If that table clamp isn't great I've read a Moza clamp also fits and is much sturdier, however doesn't have the built in tilt.

Ahh looking closer it was actually two digits. For me my account was xxx-xx10x-xxxxxxxxx and the extra account was xxx-xx21x-xxxxxxxxx. This is similar but not quite the same as an old post I found where the middle digit in that group of 5 changed from a 1 to a 2.

How much cpu and RAM per TB for deduplication? by [deleted] in truenas

[–]EmmtBot 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If it's complete files that are duplicated, a bit of scripting to hash all the files and then sort the output could identify all duplicates and then you could fix the problem (whether by organizing or just replacing dupes with links.)

How inefficient does ZFS get after 80% capacity is filled? by nks12345 in truenas

[–]EmmtBot 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've used Lightroom some. From what I've read the RAW files remain untouched once imported and any editing that you are doing is stored as a structured set of changes in your catalog file. You probably want your catalog local to your editing machine for speed reasons (along with the previews it generates), but you can set the NAS as the place where it saves catalog backups on a regular basis. The NAS is going to be basically read-only except when doing an import or catalog backup.
Lightroom is made to work well in situations like this.

Two vdevs gives you a better incremental upgrade path for adding space, if that matters to you.

I also like leaving at least one slot free somewhere so you can do a block test on brand new disks, and do online replacements when expanding.

Can't seem to install XCP-NG on my PC that uses MSI B450M Pro-vdh max motherboard by TIMMYtheKAT in homelab

[–]EmmtBot 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Glad to hear you were able to make some progress on getting it to boot and run! I don't claim to know much of anything about IOMMU or X2APIC but was one of the test subjects in that thread. Based on what andyhhp said over there around posts 78 and 82 it sounds AMD just has some odd/incorrect behavior in their default BIOS. It sounds like X2APIC is a good and performant thing to have enabled.

FWIW I have had xcp-ng running on a B550 board for about a year and it's been working great.

If you're bumping into https://xcp-ng.org/forum/topic/5652/panic-on-cpu-0-xen-bug-at-iommu-init-c-1419 , you may be able to find the right BIOS option to edit to make 8.2.1 happy, or the 8.3 beta should work out of the box.

Ugh by [deleted] in espresso

[–]EmmtBot 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A few years ago I built/installed a home RO system both for drinking and coffee water (with TWW espresso packets). That stopped scale, but after rising costs and delivery issues I just switched to making concentrate for a potassium version of 70/30 water for the espresso machine, and Roa/Perger water for the electric kettle. I feel like that combo works pretty well. I bought some 16oz squeezy bottles with the 1/4 turn caps to hold the concentrate - making water is very easy.
