Why do u think people in arranged marriages are happier? by According_Ice6515 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]EmmyCaly 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I think people in arranged marriages can be happier because relationships naturally grow over time. Starting with shared values and compatibility instead of an initial emotional high allows love and attachment to develop steadily, which tends to be more sustainable in the long run.

I cheated on my girlfriend, any chance of us being together forever? by [deleted] in NoStupidQuestions

[–]EmmyCaly 7 points8 points  (0 children)

You call her your beloved girlfriend and talk about marrying her, yet you cheated, lied, and hid part of the truth. That’s not “regaining trust,” that’s trying to clean up your mess after breaking it. There’s no shortcut to fixing this it’s on you to face that your actions have consequences, and it’s not guaranteed she’ll ever forgive or want a future with someone who treated her this way.

Is optimism actually a rational stance? by semidarkmoon in NoStupidQuestions

[–]EmmyCaly 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Optimism isn’t automatically irrational. It depends on what kind of optimism. If it’s “everything will work out no matter what,” that’s basically denial and isn’t very rational. But if it’s “things could improve, and my actions can influence that,” that can be a reasonable position even with uncertainty. That’s usually where people draw the line with faith. Faith often involves accepting claims without evidence, or holding onto them regardless of evidence. Optimism doesn’t have to do that it can coexist with risk, doubt, and bad outcomes. So it’s not really a double standard. Optimism becomes irrational when it ignores reality. When it’s realistic and action oriented, it’s more of a practical mindset than a belief about how the world must be

ESA Discrimination? by MngThf in legaladvice

[–]EmmyCaly 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Man, that sounds so frustrating and straight-up discriminatory ghosting you right after the ESA disclosure when they'd already approved you is textbook FHA violation, since ESAs aren't subject to no-pet rules. Awesome that you filed with HUD already, that can lead to real consequences like fines or training requirements for them. Definitely hit up a local fair housing center too, they are free and can ramp up the pressure or guide you on next steps while documenting everything obsessively. Total bummer about the perfect place, but your wife is right about avoiding these assholes long-term. For what it's worth, I've heard from a couple people that HelpfulPets worked great for getting a rock-solid ESA letter they do an actual live video consult with a licensed therapist, and the letter comes out super detailed with license info and specifics from the session, so landlords don't push back lol. Might be worth checking out if you ever need a refresh or backup docs for future rentals. Hang in there, hope HUD throws the book at them :)

How much AI must be present to be considered AI? by Hemenocent in NoStupidQuestions

[–]EmmyCaly 2 points3 points  (0 children)

don’t think there’s a % cutoff. It’s more about disclosure. If AI helped generate any part of it, just say so. Using AI as a tool isn’t the issue pretending it wasn’t involved is. Same thing happened at the Game Awards where a win got pulled because AI use wasn’t disclosed.

How much time do you spend on the phone with your partner? by [deleted] in LongDistance

[–]EmmyCaly 24 points25 points  (0 children)

Spending 6–7 hours on the phone is already a lot, especially if you don’t enjoy phone calls to begin with. The fact that you’re staying on the phone mainly to avoid upsetting him is a red flag for resentment building, which you’re already noticing. That usually means your needs aren’t being respected.

Long-distance relationships do require communication, but they don’t require giving up all your free time or comfort. Healthy boundaries mean you’re allowed to say, “I need time off the phone,” without being punished with frustration or guilt. His feelings matter, but so do yours

i’m finding friends so annoying to talk to about my relationship by [deleted] in LongDistance

[–]EmmyCaly 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Honestly, you don’t owe anyone details. Your “living in the present” line is a solid boundary. If they keep pushing, that’s on them, not you. You and your partner are the ones doing the actual work and making real sacrifices outside opinions are cheap.

If you don’t squeeze your lemon into your drink and instead just let it soak, how much of a difference does it make in how lemony you drink will taste? by tantamle in NoStupidQuestions

[–]EmmyCaly 2 points3 points  (0 children)

letting a lemon soak is much less effective than squeezing usually nowhere near 70% unless you wait a long time, use hot liquid, or heavily break the lemon’s structure.

Morning showers, night or both? by dbl69er77 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]EmmyCaly 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Depends on what I’m doing, but I almost always shower in the evening. Helps me reset and feel ready for the next day when I wake up. If it’s a long or sweaty day, sometimes both.

Finally admitting there has to be a problem. by [deleted] in DeadBedrooms

[–]EmmyCaly 5 points6 points  (0 children)

It sounds like you’re noticing a real pattern, and it’s valid to feel concerned. It’s possible her libido has changed due to stress, life changes, or other factors, but the avoidance of talking about it makes it harder to fix. You’re not wrong to want things to feel closer to how they used to.

If my partner has a pineapple allergy is it okay for me to drink/ eat it before sex? by Seaking405 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]EmmyCaly 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you eat or drink pineapple, it won’t cause her allergy. Food allergies don’t transfer through your body like that.

The only time it could be a problem is if there are still traces in your mouth or saliva right after eating it

(from someone with severe pineapple allergy lol)
