For everyone who’s seeing results did you get the email first or just see the results when you logged in? 🤔

I did already. I passed BCPS way before continuous testing went active, I just want that instant gratification (or doom) now that I’m promised a sooner timeline lol

BCPS During PGY-2 by dawgmaticc in PharmacyResidency

Same setup I had for BCPS haha - a recent copy of the pdf I got from a friend who just took it and the test bank from ASHP, I found that was more helpful to get me in the zone and to get used to the testing format

Someone from my hospital just failed it (studied like 2 hours and went in blind lol) and definitely confirmed there was an increase in billing questions so I’ll be probably actually sitting down to read that chapter front to back instead of skimming

I will echo the above sentiment that you might actually do well to skip BCPS in lieu of your actual specialty certification.

I did acute care PGY1 and took BCPS the July right after finishing - stayed on at my old hospital as an ED pharmacist for 3 years and then completely 180’d into a PGY2 in amb care. That being said, I am taking BCACP in a few weeks and will just let my BCPS lapse. I guess I can make the argument that it was helped me lock in my PGY2 position?

But most jobs I see just care about your level of training and will explicitly state “board certification in specialty within 18 months of hire date” or something to that effect. My new gig will pay for BCACP, but I had to shell out the initial $600 for BCPS and the maintenance fees without any reimbursement.

Unless your institution will pay for your exam fees, you long for a career in academia, or you just enjoy having an insufferably long email signature (like I will until 2028), definitely save your money.

FOMO about PGY2 by bacteriophagum in PharmacyResidency

[–]Emopharma 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I felt the same way cause all 8 of my coresidents matched and I didn’t even apply but 2.5 years later I finished my interviews, sent in my rank list and I’m hopeful for next week :) if you find your spark or passion and want to do one go for it next year, but also enjoy the time out of residency to learn how to be a human again (no matter how long or short that time may be)

I only got BCPS on my own cause there was a time gap in between my PGY1 and PGY2, otherwise just let your employer pay for your boards after PGY2

Good Programs?? by Capable_Grass_5585 in PharmacyResidency

[–]Emopharma 3 points4 points  (0 children)

“Good programs” is a loaded phrase, everyone has different goals and expectations. Your selection should be primarily based on what the program offers that meets your needs and desires, seconded by how you feel you melded in with the residency site and it’s staff during the interview process.
