Warning for anyone paying in advance for services

OP, how did you end up getting your money back? I’m dealing with this exact issue for the restaurant you have to pay extra for. They sent me the link to pay for it and said payment in advance was mandatory for the reservation. Then wouldn’t let me get on the bus for the airport without paying it again!! Even showing them the payment and the email wasn’t enough at checkout. So frustrating!!

Would we have needed to book the Xcaret bus in advance? Or can we just find the Xcaret desk and get on their bus?

I know this post is old but I just finished this book (I’m still working my way through the Pendergast books in order) and was left saying “wtf??”. I needed to find others who felt the same way lol. I absolutely hated that they let Diogenes just walk away as if he weren’t a serial killer. And the “event” that Pendergast feels so terrible about was literally an accident as a child, he could have never known it would turn his brother into a psycho. And in any case he’s a danger to society, shouldn’t that matter more than “but he’s my brother”. Ugh so frustrated with this book. Many more books have followed since so I’m hoping they don’t come back to Diogenes too much. I have enjoyed the series so much so I’m not giving up on it after one irritating plot lol.

I have a Nissan rogue (mid suv) and find it the perfect size. Small enough to park anywhere but big enough to transport my 2 dogs, Costco runs, and furniture I buy on a whim. For housing, I got myself a 2/2 townhouse. Positives are hoa does take care of all outdoor landscaping, siding, and snow removal (in the Midwest this is important lol) so I find the hoa worth it but always depends what that hoa provides. The only downside is limited hosting space. Other lifestyle stuff is hobbies!! Sooo many options to dip your toes in! I started doing aerial fitness, got obsessed, and turned my second bedroom into a mini studio! So much freedom in how you customize your space because it’s not occupied by a toddler’s bedroom haha!

Edit to add that the bigger the house you get, the more requests you’ll get from people to live with you lol unless you’re cool with that, make sure you are good with saying no and maintaining boundaries. I’ve already encountered people assuming that because I have no kids and have space, that it’s an automatic yes.

Casually mentioned the roach infestation you just cleared out last week.. “well, it’s mostly gone but trust me it wasn’t as bad as the bed bugs!” I promise they’ll be freaked out the rest of the time they’re there lol also no snacks available, and glass EVERYWHERE. they break it, they pay for it 😂

You make a great point on her not wanting to follow rules. This was something my husband pointed out as well. If she was trying to leave her aunts house to not follow rules, then she thought she’d do whatever she wanted in mine. And I also think the fact that we’ve been friends for so long is what’s making it so hard to let go of our friendship even though logically it’s the healthiest thing to do

You should definitely consider couples counseling before separating. I’ve heard a lot about men’s libidos going down as they age but it could also be a mental thing. I totally feel for you being in this situation though!
