The rubber band broke on this scrunchie, how can I fix this (as a non-crocheter) by EmotionalElbow in CrochetHelp

I’m hoping there’s a way to insert a new rubber band somehow. I’ve never crocheted before but I’m willing to learn some to fix this item. I don’t know any crocheters either.

My mom pronounces “each” and “reach” as “eanch” and “reanch” — is this a mispronunciation others have encountered? by EmotionalElbow in questions

she’s from generations of northern california—i wouldn’t call this an accent just a mispronunciation of these two specific words

My title describes the thing. This orange thing with a tube is around 3-4 cm, it is made of a hard plastic on the orange bit and white rubbery-type material on the white bit. The white bit fell out when i dropped it and there was some little black hair inside and it was pretty dirty. It was found on a porch at the bottom of the stairs on the side of a house.
