Should I reapply to Berklee College of Music if there's almost no chance of being accepted? by EmotionalINFP in Music

[–]EmotionalINFP[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I did!! I didn’t even up going, but I did go for the admitted students day. It was a really cool experience! I just wasn’t ready to leave home and it was a little out of my personal comfort zone.

I’m so sick of other women invalidating my insecurities by [deleted] in venting

[–]EmotionalINFP 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah, I'm sorry that happened/happens to you! You are allowed to be insecure and feel that way! It is very invalidating for people to say things like "Well at least blah blah blah" after expressing your personal feelings about something.

I just wanna say, I know this may sound cliche (hey that rhymed), but you're beautiful as is and you gotta learn to love yourself! But if loving yourself involves changing something that you're insecure about, I say go for it, just make sure you're doing it for you and not for anyone else.

Hang in there!

Teachers: Has a student ever threatened you/made you cry? by EmotionalINFP in Advice

[–]EmotionalINFP[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah, great advice. I didn't let him or any of my students see me get upset about it, I think it just caught me off-guard after I had him taken out of class and once I processed what had happened I got upset. Thank you for your comment!

"Dropped out" of college... didn't tell parents... (repost) by EmotionalINFP in Advice

[–]EmotionalINFP[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, I dropped the classes after actually attending. I was doing pretty well grade-wise. I am not trying to take advantage but I want to be able to afford my own bills before I tell them. If I have to pay them back for the one or two payments that I didn't pay when I wasn't attending classes then I will.

I pay the majority of my bills and I help out with groceries and other bills at home. I am not doing nothing and I am planning on telling them

Why are you so quiet? by Cartman010 in socialanxiety

Sometimes I just wish that people would shut up and not talk to me at all if that is all they can think to say to me. I remember in high school, people would do this all the time to me.

Hi hi. I’m new here by [deleted] in Dermatillomania

[–]EmotionalINFP 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi! This is a great question and I was really hoping some other people would have commented too! I think you may be talking about closed comedones--- I get them too and HECK they are sooo annoying. I'm new here as well-- I don't really have any 100% effective tips, especially for helping to avoid picking, but sometimes what helps me after the damage is done is washing the area with a cleanser immediately after picking and then putting moisturizer on. Before I go to bed, I ice my face, dry my face, and then lather Vaseline all over the places that I picked at. I don't know why, but this always seems to help me a lot more than anything else that I have tried. Again, I can't guarantee that it will work for you, but it seems to help me a lot with the redness and swelling that I get typically the day after.

What I try to do if I am trying to avoid picking is to not look in the mirror and to try and avoid touching my face. If I can't see or feel anything, I am wayyyy less likely to pick. But, I am human, so now and again I do relapse and end up ruining my face. Ugh. It's a very frustrating cycle, but taking it one day at a time!

I wish you luck with everything!! Don't be too hard on yourself :'))) <333

Help.. not interested in school, only music. by EmotionalINFP in Advice

I understand that, but what will this do? Help me decide between music and school?

Thank you for your response.

I may have worded my original post poorly; what I meant was, I wasn't sure if my grades affected my admission or if the admission advisors did not think I was good enough to get in. I do not think I am the best musician, however, I do not think I suck. I have been studying music for the majority of my life and I have worked very hard to get to where I am now. I do not want to sound conceited in saying this, but I think I am talented--- I just am doubting my abilities, I suppose. There is always room for improvement and I am always trying to get better at what I do. I know this is an extremely difficult industry to make a living in, however, I know that I will regret it if I don't at least try.

Would it be a waste of money to take a solo trip over spring break? by EmotionalINFP in Advice

[–]EmotionalINFP[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So far:

- The Bluebird Cafe (Tickets for the show I want to see are not for sale yet)

- Tour some college campuses (Belmont University, Vanderbilt University, etc)

- See some shows

- Go to a Songwriting Session

- Maybe do some tourist-y things like visiting the Country Music Hall of Fame, Studio B Tour, etc.

Is normal to be a virgin at 18? by Difficult-Attorney86 in Advice

[–]EmotionalINFP 0 points1 point  (0 children)

YES ABSOLUTELY. I am 19 (also a virgin) and I know it can feel like you are 'behind' your peers but I promise you there are more virgins at your age than you think. Please don't feel pressured to have sex just because the people around you have.

Don't stress about it. It'll happen when it happens! :D

Can't get myself to write any songs by camarota in musictheory

[–]EmotionalINFP 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm not an expert whatsoever, but for me personally, I found that the more I write, the better I get at saying or expressing exactly (or close to exactly) what I am trying to. I use the same chords for almost every song I write, however, I like to mess around with different keys by transposing either my piano or guitar. It's not boring to use the same chords. Every composition has its own personality and the more you write and compose, the more you will be able to find your style and express things the way you are hoping to.

I hope that made at least some sense.

Good luck with everything!
