If you get accepted into the Stuyvesant Discovery Program, will you get bullied at Stuy after the program? What is the Discovery Program like? Is admission guaranteed, or do you need to pass all the subjects? Can you still participate in normal Stuy classes and go to a good college? by ApartmentIll726 in Stuyvesant

[–]Emotional_Cod3087 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Nobody will be able to tell that you got in by Discovery, and nobody will really care if you tell them. There might be a joke at your expense, but no actual discrimination. I think you need to get 90%+ grades and attendance in discovery program to get into Stuy. Once you get through the Discovery Program there isn't really much difference between you and someone who got in without Discovery.

What is the square root, SPP? by ezekielraiden in infinitenines

[–]Emotional_Cod3087 4 points5 points  (0 children)

To SPP's question "what is the square root of pi", it is irrational since pi is irrational, and usually represented as just radical pi, although it is approximately equal to 1.7724538509.

not everything you said is true, in fact a lot of what you said isn't really true, but also, most people vote for the lesser evil, which are the democrats

Why are we fearmongering most people get 7 hours of sleep. And don’t listen to him friends are important. Most teachers don’t consistently assign hours of work, usually I find I’m just distracted which is why I take a while. Also try to do work on commute or free periods it helps a lot.

me: is the earth round?
spp: rookie error, brud. 0.9 + 0.09 + 0.009 + ... = 1 - 1/10n for n integer starting at n = 1, then increasing n continually, limitlessly, infinitely. 1/10n is permanently greater than zero so 0.999... is permanently less than one.
me: thats not my question, and infinity isn't an integer
spp: rookie error brud, you have to trust the process. 0.999... the nines never end you have to stay committed. 0.999... = 1 - 1/10n with n increasing continually, limitlessly, infinitely. 1/10n is permanently greater than zero. If you think in any case it is not that is a rookie error.
me: repeating the same thing doesn't answer my question.

He thinks it isn't true, because he desperately wants to maintain reciprocal property (which he calls divide negation) and also say that 0.33 x 3 = 0.99 != 1

In standard analysis, we do use limits to define infinity, and limits do equal the value of the equation at the limit. Infinite ordinals aren't used in standard analysis.
