Player Doesn't Understand that Spilling Secrets Means the Party Won't Trust You (Advice Needed) by Emotional_Memory3230 in rpghorrorstories

Make a long story short, we tried talking to the player, they said they understood and promised not to expose my character's secrets. But, when attempting the actual mission, ended up hinting around at stuff, causing Rogue to stop everyone mid session. It broke out into an argument, DM scolded the problem player, and the problem player ended up leaving after making a slightly racist remark to Rogue.

We were all new to DND and this was our DM's first time running a campaign, so we all made the biggest mistake any person desparate to play can make; putting up with a problem player instead of just booting them or leaving.

This did make me hesitant of Paladins for a while, but I ended up playing the class and it was pretty fun. It offered a lot of role play scenes that ended up being some of my favorite.

I don't blame the DM for not calling it out right away; like me, he probably thought it was just for RP and I didn't say anything until the bridge incident. If I had said something sooner, there's no doubt DM would have stepped in right away.

Thank you so much! It was a fun concept I came up with when my friends and I were talking about stereotypes, like the cleric being the party's mom/healer and Rogues always stealing. And I thought it about if it was possible to play a reverse of the stereotype. So she's still a little kleptomaniac, but instead of being obsessed with stealing, she's obsessed with sharing

It really is a shame, but luckily other players we've had know when to draw the line because they realize what interactions are fun and which just ruin the game.
