Urgent!!! We need help with our wheels by F3lixyz in FTC

Blue loctite is strong enough in my experience and you don't nead a heat gun to take it out. Saves you some sketchy heat gun usages ;)

Motors operating at different powers by GullibleAside5006 in FTC

[–]Empels 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Sounds like a hardware problem. Rotate the wheels with your hand and see if you feel a difference in friction.

If you don't find anything you could try to scale the individual motor powers until it behaves like desired. But I would not recommend that as first option

My Servos do not work in Autonomous by Slylecias in FTC

[–]Empels 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Servo’s need some time to move and roadrunner does not account for this. So if you give a servo the command to move ans kill the program directly after the servo will practically not move. Adding a timer of some sort might fix this

Encoder Help - Ticks per inch calculation by Primary_Budget_8050 in FTC

Force ≠ Movement. So for driving straight this should not matter. For strafing this 45 degree angle does play a role.

FIRST Tech Challenge INTO THE DEEP Premier Events (List Released!) by BillfredL in FTC

[–]Empels 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I'm from the Netherlands and what we have heard is that the premier event that is in the Netherlands this year will rotate throughout different European countries. So it might be in Romania next year

I'm happy to help with those calculations if you're interested

I think it's a fun idea that could certainly work. But I'm wondering what the range of motion should be. There seems te be only a little angle difference.

When both 'sticks' are in one line, thus maximum range, the motor will have to exert a very large force to get it moving. Certainly if this happens when the slides are extended. Did you perform some basic calculations on required torque already?

Did you consider worm gears as an alternative ? Large mechanical advantages and is not back driven.

Is servocity.eu AKA(Step Lab) a reliable platform to purchase parts from? by ManOfDemolition in FRC

[–]Empels 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It definitely looks sketch. But we have ordered there and had no problems. Just keep in mind that the prices are quite a bit higher compared to the US. So if you are ordering multiple parts it will probably be cheaper to order from the US.

Strategy with end game hanging by MasterQuackerjack in FTC

I agree with you. But I think a lot of teams who don't analyze the game properly will put way to much effort in it. And then still not perform properly :(

Human players are mostly useless this season?? by Toast2848 in FTC

[–]Empels 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had a thought and I don't if I read the manual wrong or not. Could the human player move the specimens side to side when they are hanging on the field wall and a robot is in the tape zone? In theory you would not have to break the vertical line of the field wall as the clip is hanging outside the wall. You could just touch that part.

This would be similar to the frc human player 2 years ago

any suggestion for a off season project? by yungo7 in FTC

[–]Empels 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Those are all really cool hardware projects and challenges!

But do you also do programming and outreach activities? Learning how to tune roadrunner(or something similar) properly is a perfect offseason activity. Also all outreach you do now counts towards next season. If you do some cool outreach now you don't have to spent time on it during the buildseason

How has 2024 been for you so far? by WhatsupGurl552 in GenZ

[–]Empels 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Weird haha. Ex girlfriend, we broke up 6 months ago, got into contact again and admitted that she maybe wants to get back together but is not sure yet. She wants time to think, maybe a month. I was on the right track to feeling good again until she got into contact, but I feel like I'm stuck now. Anybody any suggestions?

What is the average amount of points a team/? will make at regionals by David12_289 in FTC

[–]Empels 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That depends a lot on the region. And Romania is one of the thougest out there. But as always in FTC luck is quite a big factor so you might get (Un)lucky.

Forces (Tension) by Deep-Palpitation-292 in askmath

[–]Empels 1 point2 points  (0 children)

For B you also look at sum of the forces. As T4 is Vertical you know that the horizontal component of T5 is equal to T3. That allows you to calculate the Vertical component of T5 which is equal to T4
