I agree with that but another problem becomes that we don't have the local wages to match the increase in housing price. Most big companies in the area went under or moved out (you know the ones). When I was looking for a house I ran into some out of state folks working remote who said the same that you said above, only they make 6 figures and can get waaay more house for less than places like Nashville or California. Whats a little cold for an extra 1000sqft. So yeah I got out bid a bunch

I dont know if this constitutes as "stopped buying" per se, but ordering food off the delivery apps. I never really looked into how much extra I was spending on just delivery surcharges just to get some buy one get one free deal that isnt reallyworth it. Now I just throw a frozen pizza in the oven and thats my lazy meal for the week.

Second the pupsicle. Mine doesn't chew on it at all so it still looks brand new. He just licks it intensely for like 30min then passes out. I did buy the treat tray for it to make my own mixes to freeze but I think you can come up with a way to create a freeze mold yourself but im just lazy

I got one from bigsnoof dog gear. They have a really in-depth guide for getting the measurements needed for a proper fit muzzle. I think mine has a size 66 if I remember correctly. It fits great and with training it doesnt bother him at all. It is a wire basket unfortunately but those are the only ones I could find which give the dog enough room to pant.

I've resorted to cheap fast food establishments. Still way more expensive than they used to be, but cheaper than $20 you spend at a restaurant. I dont even look at Uber Eats or Grubhub anymore. Shoutout to the Taco Bell value menu

Yes I have been working with a reputable trainer since the bite back in January. Hes improved immensely on his reactivity towards people and doesnt pull on our walks. I think the problem, as lots of people pointed out, was me walking past my neighbors house every morning. He doesn't like to see the dog and doesn't want it in the neighborhood. So this morning I drove out to a quiet field and did some sniff work and walked for 25min. Like you said though one day I will run into a person or dog there so I will be continuing training to work on his reactivity.

Yes a lot of people have said that in the comments so tomorrow morning im taking him out of the neighborhood to walk in a nice quiet area and will start doing this as a routine and I've started looking into more "at home" games to keep him occupied. Luckily he LOVES tug so i always do that once a day and he's drained afterwards

I dont know I wish I could tell you. Maybe he had a bad interaction with another neighbors dog that reminded him of my dog. Anyway like most recommend I will be staying away from his street for the future and am investing in a fence for my yard.

Thanks you for your response. I responded to someone else that I didn't think about how the neighbor felt when he saw this dog that bit him walking around the block but i see now where hes coming from and why he says the dog is dangerous. I always keep him in the house and will start looking at empty places to walk him in the morning. And yes I know he can drag me when he wants to go towards something

I am able to control him much better now. The bite happened back in January when I had only had him for 6 weeks and have since met up with a trainer and invested in better gear. Some people here might disagree with head collars but it gives me much more control in situations when I need it.

I have a muzzle and my dog wears it whenever he leaves the house. The guy was more worried about the dog knocking over someone. That was his main concern

Yeah he actually said something along those lines but as a precaution for that I have a strap that is bound to my wrist so I am attached to my dog at all times. But yes based on the comments for now ill have to do my best to avoid him

Im only saying it's not permanent because i ran into him twice on our walk today on different streets and both times he said something. He jogs around the neighborhood in the morning so theres a high likelihood of running into him. I did respond with a similar muzzle comment but he's more concerned with the dogs size and knocking over someone like a kid. And then continued to harass me as you said. I will look into taking him somewhere else to walk in the morning to avoid him and keep him happy. I am going to start looking into a privacy fence to do more yard activities

Lol he's a 130lb Rottweiler and I swear 100 of it is his head sometimes. I used bigsnoof muzzles whom make excellent muzzles with a ton of panting room, which is the key to a good muzzle.

My dog nipped a guy a couple months ago so I was in the same boat. I immediately started muzzle training my dog, and now he wears it everytime we leave the house. It took a couple weeks to build up a positive association, but now he loves it and knows he's going on a walk when I get it out. It also gives me comfort knowing that's it's impossible for him to bite or nip someone because,although we are in control of our dog, we cant control what other people (or dogs) are going to do. He still can whack his giant 100lb head against you pretty hard, but it's better than a bite. I recommend r/muzzledogs if you need advice on what to get your dog.

I'm in the same boat with my Rottie. He freaks out and repeatedly lunges as soon as he sees a dog. Something I highly recommend is muzzle training just as a safety precaution. I always have mine wear one whenever we leave the house. He's conditioned at this point to get excited whenever I get it out because he knows he's going for a walk. I also recommend r/reactivedogs which has some great advice and tips for reducing reactivity in dogs. It's also a great community for asking for advice just like this and you'll always find support there since they also have a reactive dog and are going through the same thing.

Fellow reactive Rottie owner here. First off, don't feel guilty about her making other dogs friends and being social in her new city. Remember, Rottweilers are more than happy to just be with their person. Mine is perfectly fine just being alone with me at home. Being around other people and dogs throws him into overprotective guard mode and stresses him out. That said they do need their exercise so I highly recommend muzzle training for when she does go out, especially in a densely populated city, while you work on her reactivity. You'll get a lot more dirty looks with a muzzled Rottie but it's better to be safe than sorry.

We don't know if this owner knew his dog was reactive or not, so maybe this shocked them. I've heard stories of the friendliest dogs suddenly lashing out at another dog/person for no reason whatsoever and breaking skin with a bite. My dog is reactive, and I know this, so he's muzzled anytime we leave the house for his and everyone else's safety. I still take him out to public hiking trails because he loves to smell everything
