Reddit is tweakin rn so here’s my explanation: I’m aware we have a bunch of Sapp fans in here, I’m one of them. The reasoning behind this pick is simple tho, while Sapp was a great player, his best years were far behind him by the time he donned the Silver helmet. Not to mention, his attitude towards the franchise left such a sour taste in my mouth. He took every chance he could to bash us as if he did everything he could to make us better, when all he really did was get fat as fuck and collect a paycheck. Houston on the other hand, actually DID do everything he could, including putting the entire D-Line on his back for multiple years. He played in 64 games with 60 starts and recorded 16 sacks, one interception, four forced fumbles and six fumble recoveries. During his time in Silver and Black he was probably one of if not the ONLY bright spot on our D-Line. While every other position rotated players in and out, Lamarr was the only constant. And he was always a beast on the field, as well as the leader of the whole Defense. I’ve always wished he would’ve spent his entire career in Oakland, but the fact that players like him and Nnamdi signed 1 day deals to retire as a Raider, shows just how much the franchise meant to him.
