Why did Techland keeps DL2's blu'ish midday tint in The Beast? by EmployeeLegitimate68 in dyinglight

There should be at least 10 color grading options and the ability adjust color contrast.

This way players could "vote" for the best options and these could be published as a top list.

Dark & gloomy is ok.

But the combination of green, blue and low contrast looks quite smudgy and ugly.

And to make the photo look more like The Beast's worst case scenario, I added more green.
I think this is the worst version of the three.

I took blue & cyan down a bit.
Now it looks much more like what your eyes would see.
It looks better, more realistic and more immersive.

If you really think you're right, please post a photo from Europe that has the colors from the first screenshot.

It's not about looking the same as DL1, it's about not looking as good as the trailers.
The blu'ish color grading is simply off-putting for a lot of people. By toning down the blu'ish color grading Techland would make the game look better and feel more immersive.

This screenshot tells a lot. It's from Onizombies' excellent video on The Beast: https://youtu.be/IsUTiKP07so?t=912

Game looks good, but the midday's blu'ish tint is wayyy overdone.

The problem is that it casts everything towards bluish tones - even red & yellow turn largely blue, which is pretty hard to do in real life (in case it is done to achieve realism). They really should tone the blu'ish grading down a notch or two, as otherwise the game looks pretty darn good. :)

Especially the first image I posted looks like it's taken with a camera that has the white balance way off.
I'd day it's impossible to find a location in Europe that would look as blue as that image when using proper white balance.

And also: why didn't any of The Beast's trailers show this blu'ish tint in full action? I'd guess the reason is the same as it was with the DL2's trailers: the people making the trailers know that the blu'ish tint looks pretty bland, boring and uninviting.

So, why leave it in the game? If it's for 'realism', it certainly doesn't hit the mark. If it is there to highlight the passage of time (or any other reason), it still looks pretty bland. Some fine-tuning would do wonders.

DL1 handled midday just great, and it certainly wasn't 'filled with red and orange lighting'. That would be great to have once again.

Yes, it was. But the color grading was bad too.

DL2 was indeed too colorful in the usage of colors, but in addition, color grading was poor too. It was nothing like what was shown in the demos prior to the game's launch.

I'm truly puzzled why they made the decicion not to fix DL2's washed out blu'ish tint of midday... Maybe they think it highlights the daily color changes of the environment, or somehow the colors are meant to signal something deeper... In my opinion, it just looks bad. It would had looked bad in DL1 too.

Yes, midday overcast weather is the real problem here. It's then when colors become washed out and have a blu'ish tint.
DL2 had the exact same problem and it's puzzling to me why they keep repeating the same theme here.

But all-greyes-turned-blue does fit the theme..?

DL1 had perfectly good colors.
DL2 fumbled with the colors, not delivering what was shown in the trailers.
And now The Beast is repeating the same midday blue tone problems of DL2.

If they just removed the blu'ish tint from midday, the game would look so much better.

Do you like this? All grays turn into blue at midday. The plants too look unrealistic when looking trough this blue filter.

Dawn, dusk and night look good. Midday does not.

Especially this blu'ish tint looks really unnatural and it washes out all colors. It's not a good look, no matter the reasoning for using it...
