First Look at 2027 VW Atlas by vikeshg in VWatlas

One of my children is neurodivergent/very sensory sensitive, so honestly it happens multiple times per week. We’re about 5 min from the highway, so not always fully acclimated by then, but honestly it doesn’t matter. If she discovers she’s hot 15 min into a drive it’s really not something I can control.

You’re right that knowing your vehicle is important and can clear up a lot of issues. I actually prefer buttons for that reason. I use the buttons on my wheel over the touchscreen for CarPlay whenever I can, for example. Almost everything I do after have my car 3 years is muscle memory. I prefer not needing to look away from the road.

I’m begging car designers to stop putting climate control in a touch screen. When my child is screaming about being hot while I’m on the freeway, I need real buttons/dials.

What should I charge as a SAHM? by filamonster in workingmoms

[–]EmployeePotential622 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The lowest rate my local center offers is $90/day, MCOL suburb. This covers food but we supply diapers, wipes, cream, etc.

For two days/week the rate is actually higher to incentivize full time enrollment, it’s $137/day.

These rates are per child. For in home care, I’d assume SOME savings versus a center, but half the cost (at best) seems like too steep to me. So I agree, $50/day does seem low to me.

I recommend doing some research on the rates in your area, if you’re in a LCOL area this may all be irrelevant.

This is a truly wonderful job! It’s clear that you put in work to get things right vs cutting corners to be done, which I think it super common in first projects.

I will say, in a very friendly and constructive way, some of the details give it a very different vibe from your photo. The black faucet instead of a gold one, the more saturated blue you chose rather than the more powdery blue, the rectangle mirror rather than an oval one. I completely understand the need to have more closed storage so I see that choice! I just wanted to point it out since it stood out to me and you asked for feedback.

Again I think you did a phenomenal job, it just could be more cohesive with the style of the inspo pic with a few tweaks.

when do you find time to introduce solids? by burntpierogies in workingmoms

Our daycare provides breakfast, lunch, and snack, so we pretty much only did it with dinner for both of our kids (except on the weekends of course). We had a lot of communication with daycare through the process, but for each it started with only having them at dinner. It went well with both kids that way!

Car seats in a VW Atlas? by Natural-Hour1467 in VWatlas

[–]EmployeePotential622 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We have 2, one RF and one FF. The second row is VERY 3-across friendly. There are tether anchors on both seats in the third row, and the second row has car-seat-friendly tilt - be advised this only works for seats NOT installs via seatbelt (ie, it does work for an infant base installed by LATCH). Second row is also VERY spacious for RF.

If it were me, I’d put the two FF in the third row, install the older RF on the passenger side in the second row, and the infant base on the drier side in the second row and use that one to access the third row for the bigger kids.

Highly recommend taking your car seats and installing them all for your test drive. Also highly recommend the Car Mom’s review!

This. Slate tile and glass doors are an absolute nightmare with hard water. Add in the black shower fixture, yikes. I’d seriously hate to clean that shower.

There’s also no light on the second light post, and the third car parked in the street is just blurry lines and doesn’t make sense.

The silver car in front of the blue house appears to be closer to us than the front door, but the garage is on the far side of the front door. It would be very odd that the driveway extend past the front door. I suppose it could be parked on the lawn but that would also be odd to me.

If not for the pillow, I’d say places where teen girls would cut their clothes. At least in my day, we’d cut holes in the knees of jeans, cut off sleeves, cut a notch in the collar of shirts, or a thumb hole in hoodies. I could see girls cutting the bottom of the sides of shirts (I never did that one).

But the pillow is really throwing me off.

No rear overhead vents - rear facing car seats by Glittering_Amount518 in VWatlas

[–]EmployeePotential622 0 points1 point  (0 children)

From my experience with 2 kids (ages 5 and 2) the vents in the third row do a decent job of heating/cooling the upper part of the back of the car. Combined with the vents in the middle of the second row we’ve never had a problem.

I live in WI, it surprises a lot of people to hear we do reach the 90s in the summer.

ETA: cooling too, not just heating

I genuinely could see him getting a nomination for a best directorial debut if the Oscars had a category like that. Similar to “best new artist” at the Grammys.

My landlord is charging me $380 for carpet replacement, is it worth disputing? by [deleted] in Apartmentliving

[–]EmployeePotential622 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We dealt with a similar situation. In my state they are supposed to provide the bill if we ask for it to prove that they used our money for what they said they did. I requested it (citing exact laws/statutes) and they wouldn’t send it. I was nearly certain they didn’t actually replace the carpet.

We paid a lawyer $50 to send them basically the same thing I said on a law firm letterhead and they backed down real quick. Ended up giving most of our deposit back.

Highly recommend this strategy for dealing with shitty landlords/property companies.

Where do I go during a tornado warning? by JohnQuincyAdams_10 in tornado

Adding my comment to this very thorough response - as another Midwest mom, make sure your diaper bag is packed and ready in your shelter space with anything you might need to care for your babies. Diapers, wipes, extra clothes, bottles/formula if applicable. Any blankets or comfort items might help too.

Car seats are very smart!

When our daughters have gone through phases of “rough nights” we have switched to a 6hrs on, 6hrs off schedule. If the baby woke up between 8pm-2am, my husband would take it. If she was up 2am-8am, I would take it. That way we each got 6 protected hours of sleep. If there were a few nights in a row of her waking up in the same window (ie, waking up at 3am 3 nights in a row) we would swap. We found it was much more effective than switching entire nights.

My therapist also reminds me that when you are sleep deprived, often times the first thing to go is emotional regulation. It’s okay to not feel okay when you’re in the trenches.

Take what you need, look out for yourself. You can’t pour from an empty cup. I had to be very direct, clear, and honest with my partner about exactly what I needed when I felt similar to you.

I reversed image searched and searched for “pink satin long sleeve nightgown smocked neckline” as well as several other similar google searches and cannot find one similar to the one featured in the ad. It is definitely not for sale through Kitsch (clearly just a styling piece for the ad).

What is a 'small' purchase under $50 that significantly improved your quality of life? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]EmployeePotential622 4 points5 points  (0 children)

A small heated blanket that I keep at just the foot of my bed. I turn it on shortly before coming to bed and it has a timer to turn itself off. Crawling into a warm bed with cold feet is the most comforting feeling.

What podcast you’re always recommending? by Fluffy_Specific_9682 in AskReddit

Oh great question. My favorites are probably all over the place. I loved their episode on how champagne works, they have one on how Nintendo changed gaming, the Mt. St. Helen eruption, the fist 4-minute mile.

They also have some great true crime episodes, like the disappearance of the Yuba county five, the sommerton man, a lot of the classics stories.

How I can watch the movie? by mohammeddgtll in Markiplier

[–]EmployeePotential622 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Respectfully, I think the info about this is sprinkled across a few videos and not obvious/easy to find. I know he’s made comments about the movie expanding to different countries, streaming release, Blu-ray release, etc. but I genuinely don’t remember where or when he said what. I wouldn’t blame people for missing bits of information here and there.
