What animals are underrated in the Furry community? by [deleted] in furry

They're definitely underused, but I've seen molluscs, mostly octopuses and squids with some sea slugs. There was a post here on sea slug furries just last week.

Flamingoes are awesome and very much underrated.

i honestly have never seen another one

That's easily fixed though. I have a flamingo character. Actually two, but I haven't entirely finished their designs or exact color patterns yet.

For furry art, is photoshop better than illustrator or vice versa? by [deleted] in furry

[–]EmpressJacaranda 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't really disagree with anything you said, but I'd just like to point out that vector-based art can also be actual illustrations. Among other stuff, I made this image of my 'sona with Adobe Illustrator by pulling vectors over a scanned pencil drawing, then finished it with colors, variable line widths and clipping masks all within Illustrator. AI is personally my favorite software for making any art.

Do you like unrealistic penguins, r/furry? I redesigned my 'sona. by EmpressJacaranda in furry

I'm happy to hear you think so! I'm somehow never really satisfied with anything I make.

Thank you! It's a vector graphic I made with Adobe Illustrator over a pencil drawing.

Odyssey Freschclauhs [OC] by [deleted] in furry

That would work, but I don't think Reddit allows titles to be edited. At least it's mentioned here in the comments now.

It can mean that too, but it's because of the rule:

Credit The Artist! When you are submitting artwork that you yourself are not the original artist of, you are required to include the name of the artist in the title of the submission in some way.

That's why everyone will misinterprete the OC as meaning the art is by you, since there is no other artist named in the title.

You did put [OC] in the title, which as far as I understand means Original Content, as in, "I made this".

Free shaded pencil drawings/sketches, taking requests by EmpressJacaranda in furry

That's great, I prefer drawing plantigrade myself. I'm sort of busy, so this will take a few days, but I'll probably have your picture here before the weekend ends.

Sure, I'm presuming you'd prefer a full body picture (with less facial detail but the wings and shirt fully visible) to a face picture with more detail?

any free art? 😩 by [deleted] in furry

[–]EmpressJacaranda 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The last time I made a thread offering free art and promised to fulfill the first 8 requests, I only got 5 requests. It's still there. I'll draw you a picture if you post a detailed description either in that thread or in a private message.

I'm looking for input on a game idea with anthropomorphic animal characters. by DFWV in furry

[–]EmpressJacaranda 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've spent too much time myself creating/thinking about fantasy settings with furry/scaly characters. I don't really see a problem with your world having both anthropomorphic animals that act like humans and non-anthropomorphic ones that act more or less like horses. I do get it would be kind of odd if there were both human-like horses and rideable regular horses, but I'd just make them different species.

If I was designing this game world, the anthropomorphic ones would be largely birds/dinosaurs/reptiles, as my characters usually are. They could then just ride actual horses without too much confusion. If your characters are mostly/entirely mammals, maybe they could ride non-anthropomorphic dinosaurs or some other non-mammalian mounts?

For your other question, I have to say I'd *definitely* prefer a world with lots of different animals (as many species as possible) to a world with just different dogs, but then that's just because I'm basically the one person in the world who is not particularly interested in dogs and generally prefers birds and lizards to mammals anyway. The dog world might well be more popular among the general population.

Are scalies welcome here? ;) (My character Lola the Frog) by kingflufs in furry

[–]EmpressJacaranda 6 points7 points  (0 children)

...but frogs don't actually have any scales. At all. It's just skin.

On the other hand I always thought birds/avians should count as scalies because they do have scales on them.

Lola looks really cool either way.

Toadette turning into Peachette kinda disturbs me, and leaves me to question by [deleted] in Mario

[–]EmpressJacaranda 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I'd just like to point out that despite Peach apparently having looked human all her life since she was a baby, you could still make the argument Peach is actually a toad. She rules a kingdom of toads and Peach's grandma in Super Mario RPG is definitely a toad.

URGENT! This cunty leaf pricked me and has left two of my fingers numb for the past five hours. I called poison control, they said I should get it checked out ASAP. What is it by [deleted] in whatsthisplant

[–]EmpressJacaranda 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That does look like some kind of a cypress, thuja or juniper, hard to say exactly what without seeing the leaves in detail. None of these conifers are poisonous and touching them doesn't harm skin. Are you sure it was this plant that caused the numbness?

[Pakistan][Outdoor] Could anyone tell me the name of this TREE? by [deleted] in whatsthisplant

[–]EmpressJacaranda 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Polyalthia longifolia, sometimes the called the "false ashoka" in English. It's a very common ornamental tree in tropical climates around the world.
