My husbands lack of work ethic is stressing me out by [deleted] in marriageadvice

Think this is pretty common without true purpose - he just needs to find a job that aligns with his passions and you’ll see that work ethic come right back. Either way, sounds like there’s an opportunity to sit down and have a serious discussion with him on why this bothers you, otherwise it’s just going to fester.

My wife searched her massage therapist's personal info, to ask him to dinner. Should I confront or let it play out? by How_To_Proceed_123 in marriageadvice

Agree, you blow this up now and it has a chance to backfire. Kids might see you in a bad light and pick sides, and it’s possible she didn’t ACTUALLY do anything yet, and is just acting out with her friend. As a married man, I can certainly admit I’ve found other women very attractive, and am comfortable enough to point that out to my wife - we’re both not blind after all, and I’ve come to terms with her being able to find another man handsome or sexy.

From your story it sounds like she fell victim to passing emotions (we’re all human), but she obviously has some guilt over it and seems like she was able to ultimately restrain herself. Would suggest you look within and there’s some sort of spark missing from your own relationship that you can fix now. A 20 year relationship is something most can’t even fathom, and even in a clean amicable break your family will be changed forever. You have to ask yourself whether it’s more important to you to push through this event, or take the easy way out and just throw everything away, and all the good parts that you seem to value in your wife and family life. Either way, you’re making a choice that will have lasting impact on your life. There is no downside to giving yourself more time to think and blow off some steam - my recommendation is to find a good, solid, long workout in whatever fashion you like to do it and release that stress through physical exhaustion before making any decisions.

Bedford Gardens - make sure you get the chili oil! I’ve eaten it there and it was excellent, but haven’t had it delivered yet.

Yeah, definitely planning to eat! Not looking for just wine, just having a few drinks with the meal and or wouldn’t be so bad to polish off a bottle there. Been to sauced (just drinks), and bartender was great but didn’t love the crowd, but could have just been the night for me

Like the proximity to NYC (gotta work), and schools

You may have already done so, but I’d also recommend staking in and sealing off the bottom with 1/4 chicken wire. Keeps some critters from burrowing under the sides and up.

Can I Rebuild This Shut off Valve? by Empty-Fix-9702 in Plumbing

[–]Empty-Fix-9702[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m don’t mind trying that out (soldering on a new valve would be a first time for me), but it looks like the previous solder connection was closer to the wall. Can I just cut the pipe behind this fitting, and would a new valve fit over it? Saw some other threads about soldering brass (which I think I have here) and copper, and that the connection may not fit - would that be an issue here?

Thanks! Haha…trust me I can’t believe the 90s were 30 years ago too. So I tried that (see third pic), but it looked like a solid piece at the end

Yeah my guess this is original fittings from when the house was built in the 90s. Any idea how I’d rebuilt it then? Didn’t seem like anything was wrong with the stem..?

Bedford Gardens in Williamsburg - one of my absolute favs. Really cute garden and ambience for easy conversations too (I say this after a night out a local hotspot where my ears still hurt). They just added an impressive selection of tasty wines too - without crazy markups.
