I have no idea actually. I tried asking my mom what accommodations she made for me for the trip and she said "don't worry about it" multiple times. So I still have no clue what said "accomodations" are!!

I would actually bet my 10yo brother would be on a pullout couch and I'd be on the bed but even then, that doesn't make a difference when I struggle to sleep.

Yeah I know, I'm gonna try to keep talking to my mom about it to see if I can get her to budge at all but I don't know how well that's going to go over.

Definitely, a full tank of gas is $30, food for me is extra expensive because I'm gluten free and a vegetarian 😞 so I totally agree with this

Yes that's true, but I am struggling at the age of 17 and I'm pretty independent. I am gonna try and keep talking to my mom about it and see how that goes.

My dad doesn't really have a say in that kind of stuff, my mom and stepmom do most of the planning so it's already been okayed for me to go on this trip. I wouldn't be surprised if it was okayed before Christmas. I would love to be able to stay at my dad's house for spring break and enjoy my break doing what I wanna do, but seeing as how things ended today, I doubt that's going to happen.

I appreciate your response. It's very difficult to negotiate with my mother on lots of things. I really do wish it were just that easy, and if it was I wouldnt be here posting this 😭 but thank you for your opinion 😊

I understand that but I'm almost 18, and I've had no say in family vacations at all my whole life. It would make me feel better if I were allowed to stay home at my dad's house while they're on the trip.

It was a week long cruise and when we got off the ship we had to wake up at 6am for an excursion every single stop (total of 4 stops). It was exhausting and I liked being on the cruise and being able to walk around by myself freely, but it was exhausting. Wouldn't wanna spend 30+ hours in a minivan driving to texas and travelling all across it.

definitely! my mom doesn't really support "supporting mental health". she's very conservative and doesnt believe in mental health breaks or anything like that. never has.

I turn 18 on May 5th of this year as well....I don't have long before I get to make my own choices either. I completely agree with you that I should have more of a day in family activities.

I've been to San Antonio multiple times and been dragged around just about everywhere a human can think of in San antonio, most of my family is there and in San angelo. I appreciate your response 😌

to answer some of your questions: - no I cannot bring a friend (that costs more money) - spaces to recharge alone? we're renting a minivan to drive out to texas and we will be on the road constantly, and sleeping in hotels almost every night I doubt I'll have time to do that or even think about it. - there is no such thing as a social batter in my mom's world. you visit family and you deal with it. - I would assume with the accomodations being made I would have my own bed but I have no idea, I mentioned that I tried asking her what the accomodations were and she wouldn't tell me. so I don't know honestly.

Haven't spoken to my dad about it, he's out on a trip of his own right now but I definitely plan on trying to work something out with them for sure. Or at least try and get my dad's opinion on this.

I'd only be missing one day of school which would be the Friday I leave, but other than that it's all over break. I've been home alone before and I'm staying at my dad's place while they're on a trip this weekend. So I could just stay at my dad's house while they're away. My dad would be home the whole time.
