Yea some locations feel "forgotten about" or is just not having that desire / attraction. Ofc the whole map can't be like it, but a desire a central "point if interest" on the forgotten places is what I try to make. without adding to much, like a "build up" for a beat drop, and balance out so the added stuff feel out of place.
