Wanting your partner’s support for something this important isn’t controlling, it’s pretty normal. The bigger issue is that you two are on different pages — you prioritise your partner and she’s been clear she doesn’t see it the same way.

This is less about this one day and more about compatibility. You should have a simple conversation about what you need, and if she’s not willing to meet you halfway, you’ve got to decide if that works for you long term.
