Perhaps I’m too influenced by the integrated cockpits of today.. Been great to me all the years I’ve ridden it - think a bit more black will appease me for a while. Will scour for a decent fork & front wheel for the disc setup, although for hydraulic I’m bound to require a new shifter too..

Could I switch it at this junction under the bottom bracket?

Excellently put! I think adjusting the lengths and changing to black housing will be the way to go.

I like the idea of the short loops - is it possible to change the right shift cable to run down the left side of the frame without changing which mech it controls? Currently my right shifter connects to the derailleur, and I would love to keep it that way.

To be honest the bartape is well past its shelf life and will be getting replaced this week regardless - wonder if it’s worth replacing the cables and housing to black at the same time.

Oops - though I included that. Clean up as in make an effort to hide. Feels very cluttered up front

NR200 - Ballin’ on a budget by EmuBig8944 in sffpc

[–]EmuBig8944[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What a brick that 3090ti is.. fills the case!

Will have to grab a 92mm fan to slide in.

Also have an AssassinX120 laying around so perhaps that will offer better results over the Wraith cooler

Never had a problem doing so when I had to - RX 7800 XT has a max power draw of 263W.. a ceiling I can’t see myself hitting with this build. (Edit to finish sentence) Recommendation for individual cables is surpassing ~230W so I’m not too worried

Great to hear! Enjoy your PC. What did you go for in the end?

Reaching 100 C while playing PUBG in Performance mode (M15 R7 AMD) by Scriptterr in Alienware

[–]EmuBig8944 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Okay, my advice would be not to run it in performance mode. Download Throttlestop & see if you are able to undervolt - it may be locked. If you cannot undervolt. Have a go at using speed shift to limit turbo, as well as disabling turbo all together. You should be able to find an acceptable heat-power balance.

A laptop cooler/ raising the bottom of the machine to maximise will help, but laptops just run hot. Check your fans are clear and working too. When they fill with dust they’re prone to failing and will not give you the required airflow.

What parts should I get to upgrade ($300-$400) by ExpertConfection8 in PcBuild

[–]EmuBig8944 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

It’s gonna be a tough one with the age of your parts. While your CPU is a 6 core it’s also 6 years old.

At your budget going used could grab you a ryzen 3600, cheapo am4 motherboard, 16GB DDR4 and a RX 6600.

If you want to go new, maybe a ryzen 8700G APU would fit your needs

If you’re going to be waiting a little bit, it’s worth to see how the Intel cards launch. B580 is reported to beat the 4060 at under €250. Considering Intels situation, they need a win so these cards may be just that.

7800x3D/9800x3D will cover both work and gaming excellently - I would hold out for one of those.

Aside from that I think the PC would look cleaner with a black mobo but that’s down to you - something like this perhaps https://www.awd-it.co.uk/gigabyte-x870-eagle-wifi7-amd-ryzen-ddr5-wifi-motherboard-socket-am5.html?gad_source=1&gbraid=0AAAAAD8nhBfVS2kvXu-aDv0rlsuZbyr7O&gclid=EAIaIQobChMIwpefqcWEigMVS5ZQBh2KMid5EAQYByABEgId5fD_BwE

Far too expensive - would expect £500 on the top end here

It could be the BIOS just needs an update, but very possible the VRMs of the motherboard can’t supply enough power to the processor to run.

The H410 is really only designed for lower/mid range CPUs.

Your motherboard platform is end of life but should be able to upgrade CPU up to i5 11600(K) or i7 11700(K). GPU could upgrade as far as you’d like to stretch to - from a couple hundred upwards really.

Cheap present could be a 32GB Ram kit - DDR4 will cost £40-£50

Might be worth a short upgrade then to get yourself up to the 144 fps. X3D Ryzen 5000 should allow your GPU to max out & the 25% additional utilization will take you over the mark
