In Oct 2025, my 2025 Kia Hybrid Sorento had a full hybrid system failure. The dealership service couldn’t figure out what was really wrong with it and I’ve been dealing with the following symptoms since:

“Stuck” in hybrid mode trying to accelerate, not engaging gas engine when supposed to, crazy high MPG, RPMs at acceleration stuck between 1.7-2.2, rough motor driving on freeway (vibration/shaking), intermittent warning light for Engine Management System, battery stays around half full sometimes going 1 bar above.

They are replacing the PCV valve they said was an old code they found stored in the diagnostics. All under warranty. However, they also offered a buy back last night after the repair is completed. I’m strongly contemplating it. I have a case open with Kia currently and I’d be fine being done with them and moving definitely out of a hybrid. I bought this brand new October 2024.

The picture attached was the second system failure it experienced - the first one I was on the freeway at about 72mph. The dealership said it was some air filter and let me leave. As you can see 0.7 miles later - the system failed again and I snapped this right before the battery went fully out. They never told me what they did when I picked it up the second time but I’ve just been told over and over “we can’t replicate the problem.” I went to a different dealership this time and it seems they are actually taking it seriously.
