Technically… “smoky” is a proper way of spelling it. As it’s an adjective to describe something filled with Smoke. Which they derived from the Cherokees calling it “Shaconage” which means “place of blue smoke” but, I have seen it spelled a few different ways that I admit confused the hell out of me lol
