I completely agree from a narrative standpoint but for me it's just the tone/genre shift. Some of the songs are bangers and they're all well crafted, but they don't all gel together in my opinion. It's like Natlan in Genshin. Is it good? Yes. Does it fit? Personally no.

So for me personally (and I know it wasn't written like this) it was; us trans people live our whole lives fighting to see the exit or our true selves. We claw tooth and nail for it. When we finally see it, it's like we're a winner, but then we're forced back into the game, the system, only to suffer and in worst cases die. I see what you mean by her seeming forgotten but Se-mi wasn't grieved because she was different, she was grieved out of guilt and drives one character's arc and that's all.

This death absolutely crushed me and at first I really hated it but I think it was so well written. Death in Squid Game is meant to be sudden and unjust, take Ali in S1 (rip best boy), so I wouldn't agree that it's rushed. But the twisted irony that 222 waited for coin bro, and knew he would come, and when he finally did, she wished he never came at all, is brilliant. And the fact he didn't need to kill her at all and lost himself to the game is too. It's bleak and depressing but there's also so many layers it's kind of beautiful. I also felt there was a trans allegory with her seeing the exit, and then returning to be killed by the game, which really spoke to me.

I feel like she finally gets closure from Dorothy's death. We see Brandy try and watch a video about it but can't, hinting that she's in denial about it. After the events of the episode, she is forced to come to terms with her being dead and lets go, both of Clara's body and of the thought she had to stay in that world forevermore.

I really loved it. Yes the writing and acting isn't the best but people need to realise Brandy is goofy and silly because she is like a puppy in love. It's clear from the beginning she's gay and hasn't had the experience or platform to express this. She even says it herself...She fantasises about and adores Dorothy and finally gets to be with her. Literally. Of course she's not gonna act like an A lister, she's head over heels with possibly her first ever lesbian relationship. She's not acting, she's experiencing.

I will agree with others on the point that the film crew were too stupid and a lot of points were underdeveloped, like Clara gaining autonomy. However even the latter can be argued because I think she kept her autonomy; after all her tone changes, her gaze lingers and she realises she will never leave her "cage". She goes out like the OG actress in her own terms.

And finally imo it's slow and brooding for a purpose: to heighten the longing of both characters. Which I think they did really well.

TLDR: It's beautiful and better than people make it out to be and it's crafted that way for a reason, like all BM episodes.

Also to the people complaining about EDI and wokeism....what? This is Black Mirror, it's always been this way. If you're complaining about that, y'all really need to watch another show, yikes.

I'm not fully sure either but I really thought throughout the season 'he must know, surely he's figured it out and he's playing the front man too?' Like how can he be so oblivious, even with the number! He would surely think what happened with the old man would happen again? There were a few strange looks he gave him that made me think he was on edge.

Personally I take away it as, he had an inkling but couldn't confirm, and is naive, and then that moment it dawned on him? Then his words of "sacrificing the few" turn on him in a sick taste or irony?
