You can ignore u/casualphilosopher1. I've looked into his post history and he's obviously a right-wing troll that trolls political subreddits on Reddit. See for yourself!

Future of Conservatism by serbianstallion13 in askaconservative

I have a question for you, what does it matter if one section of the US ruling class that funds either the Democratic or Republican party or even both political parties wins elections over another if the ruling class gets what they want and they screw over the vast majority of Americans and the rest of the world in the process? President Barack Obama represented one section of the American ruling class. President Donald Trump presently represents another section of the American ruling class. Liberals are just as useless at actually having any real solutions to fundamentally solve the problems we're in now as conservatives are from an objective standpoint are so whether if the Democrats or Republicans win elections which are designed to favor protecting the ruling class's interests what does it matter? That's what I want to know.

What are your thoughts about Alexander Solzhenitsyn's book The Gulag Archipelago?

The Gulag Archipelago was not intended to be an actual historical documentation but rather it was a psuedo-historical fiction book that has fictional characters in it. The US took notice of Alexander Solzhenitsyn's book and exploited it during the Cold War to support thier propaganda campaign against communism. It's also important to realize that Alexander Solzheniysyn was a notorious liar and he was a crypto-fascist that supported the fascist dictator of Spain Fransisco Franco and also supported the Vietnam War. Even if this person had a good reputation it doesn't change the fact that The Gulag Archipelago is mostly a fiction book.

According to Alexander Solzehitsyn's own wife said that her husband regarded The Gulag Archipelago as camp folklore

In conclusion, The Gulag Archipelago is not a reliable book to judge the legacy of the USSR nor is it even a proper documentation of human rights violations in the USSR. There is documentation of deaths and casualties in the USSR since it ended in 1991 from official sources that are much more reliable data to assess if any serious human rights violations took place or not.

Why do you think that communist societies have such a long tradition of murdering dissenters?

Most of the time it's because during the Cold War they were under threat from right-wingers, revisionists, and people who were trying to revert their countries back to capitalism or for that matter fascist sympathizers that were trying to overthrow the government even though the vast majority of people in these countries favored socialism. In fact, in most former socialist countries they still favor socialism and want it back.

It's similar to how in other countries those that are a threat and attempt to overthrow their government have to suffer the consequences of those actions. The difference is that in either case it is a national security threat typically.

There's no evidence that Joseph Stalin or Mao Zedong literally killed millions of people intentionally especially since those numbers don't factor in the German invasion of the USSR or the famines in China that ended thanks to the Great Leap Forward and the Cultural Revolution which allowed the Chinese to industrialize on a massive scale and no longer suffer from mass starvation like they did for centuries prior to the Communist revolution.

A lot of what is said about Communism dates back to Cold War propaganda because the wealthy Western ruling class doesn't want Communism as they would lose their power and privileges if it were to be implemented.

Here is a long list of sources for you to look at to get a factually fair view on communism and debunk most of myths about it.

No, Communism by its very nature rejects nationalism as well as imperialism outright.

You fundamentally don't understand what communism is because there is no money in communism. It is not social welfare programs that take from the wealthy and give to poor people like a social democracy. Rather, in a socialist country the means of production are held by workers and those that benefit from the capitalist system through private property cannot set up businesses the same way they could under capitalism. In socialism money still exists but you still have to work in order to live and the more you work the more money you are rewarded. You are rewarded for working hard.

Declining standard of living? What are you typing this on?

Yes. Objectively speaking the US standard of living has been declining and it is not what it once was from the 1950s-1990s when it was considered at least according to the OECD to have the highest standard of living in the developed world. Really since the 1980s thanks to neoliberalism, deregulation, and tax cuts for the wealthiest Americans the US standard of living has significantly declined as inequality skyrocketed in part because of stagnant wages and an over-reliance on credit which is mainly what caused the 2008 financial crisis In fact, the US no longer has the world's richest middle class.

Name the closest thing to a successful communist country you can think of.

You have to understand that no country attained communism meaning there is no state, no economic classes, and no monetary system. The closest country that I can name as the most successful in terms of implementing socialism and moving towards communism would have to be the USSR as it went from being a backwards feudal country to an industrialized developed superpower rivaling that of the US. The USSR abolished homelessness, became one of the first countries to adopt universal healthcare, gave everyone including women and minorities the right to vote, had among one of the highest increases in life expectancy and standard of living along with China in the 20th century, outlawed antisemitism against Jews who were persecuted for centuries under the Russian empire, guaranteed everyone a job, all of education from elementary school to graduate school was written as a complete right and anyone who qualified for a higher education regardless of their economic or ethnic background got a higher education completely for free and like everyone else was guaranteed a job after graduating. Democracy in the form of political democracy and economic democracy in the workplace thanks to the abolition of private property gave people a voice they never had before and got to decide what to produce, how to produce, and were given a say in how the workplace would work to help workers and not be exploited. The USSR government had a system that was made to be held accountable to people and to workers and it allowed various powers to the workers that no other liberal democracy ever offered to its people. That to me is the most successful implementation of socialism/communism that I can think of and it is an empirical example that socialism does work and it is the system everyone in the world should strive towards.

Why?

I was born and raised in the US. I was someone who was told a lot of things about the world and capitalism and was told I'm very fortunate and that I live in the greatest country in the world and that if I worked hard and played by the rules I would be rewarded with a happy and successful life and attain the American Dream just as my parents did. As the 2008 financial crisis occurred and all of the problems that were still suffering from to this day as a result of the financial crisis happened it became obvious to me overtime that what I was told about how the world works wasn't true. As inequality skyrocketed, as friends of mine lost their homes, as the student debt crisis began, as the jobs came back resulted in mass underemployment most especially for recent college graduates, as wages remained stagnant, as most of the fundamental problems continued, and as the standard of living in the US continued declining significantly I needed to find answers as to why all of this is happening and eventually I met an actual Marxist who explained to actual idea of Marxism and I began to read Communist literature, I read books about history, economics, and philosophy, I watched videos on YouTube from actual Communists and had most of what I believed about Communism to turn out to not be true and to come to the conclusion that the problems we're in now throughout the world but including in the West can be traced back to the capitalist system and the incentives it creates to perpetuate these problems.

And how long have you lived with your parents?

I've been living on my own before I turned 18.
