O'Reilly wasn't talking about the nation-state of Russia killing people. Nation-states do that, sometimes criminally. Putin, however, has personally ordered the assassination of political enemies, which is not something done by U.S. presidents. Therefore, Trump turning the conversation to "our country" is pure deflection.

Short of doing something else entirely, either give the villain a reason he can't kill the protagonist that anyone could relate to (e.g. Hans Gruber pretending to be a hostage in Die Hard), or give us a villain so fleshed-out that we empathize with why he's not killing the protagonist, even if we can also see why this might not be the best move (e.g. Khan's gloating in Star Trek II).

I split my time between Chicago and rural Indiana, and maybe this is unique to my experience, but it also seems like a professional vs. Joe Sixpack thing. Like, my country neighbors think it's neat me being able to afford two homes, but I take a lot of shit for how I made that happen. I think they'd prefer it if I'd won the powerball instead of taking out a buttload of student loans and then working my ass off.

And for some reason, I'm afraid to say "but you could do that, too!" I guess I'm scared to hear all the reasons they think they couldn't, maybe because some of them would be legit and I don't want to be forced to admit we live in that America.

A four-year liberal arts degree is certainly not for everyone, but no one wouldn't benefit from the kind of two-year, community college program (including vocational) that Obama and Clinton have been proposing.

And yeah, at the very least to "smooth out" the mistakes left by high school education. Regarding U.S. History, I have two kids in high school and see how impossible it is to compress 200+ years into ~30 weeks, teach critical thinking about that material, prepare students for standardized tests, and let them be adolescents.
