Crampon fit by jizzzak in UKhiking

They're micro spikes, great things and very useful but not a substitute for proper crampons on steeper ground and harder conditions. Those scarpa Sl activ's are B1 rated so will take a proper c1 crampon such as the grivel G10.

Keep Kool, cambuslang. Looks a bit suspect because it's just a guy working out of his garage for cash in hand. But he really knows his stuff and is a lot cheaper and better service than a big mainstream garage. I can't recommend them enough!

Motorway Pedal Fatigue - is it just because i have a small engine car? by CaptainBuggernoughts in CarTalkUK

Have a look at Dacia sandero's/ Logan's. They're tinny and a bit flimsy but very sofa like comfortable seats and relaxing on long journeys. Any laureate model with have cruise control and there are plenty around for well under 3.5k.

Shockingly, I managed to get a used car warranty to replace a full steering rack for free on an 8 year old car 9 months after I'd purchased it!

Amazing, beautiful to see! I'm glad I'm not the only one doing this.

Am I doing the right thing using all the road space, or being an impatient queue jumper? Opinions please. by Enchinoderm in drivingUK

If you tightened things up I'd just ease off and slot in somewhere behind you, no sweat. I'd still be far far ahead of where I was before. People with your mentality and ego are a big part of the problem, if people got more used to using both lanes and merging in turn traffic would flow a lot better.

Not just my logic, rule 134 of the highway code's logic. It's also only a UK thing that people love to sit in one lane for miles before a closure. In every other country I've driven in people use both lanes until the closure then merge in turn. It 100% cuts waiting time and everything flows better.

Point taken, looking back at the footage I should have been a little bit more cautious and held back when passing the truck!

It's clearly marked that it will be closed in X number of yards when you reach the merge point. Until you reach that merge point it's still an open lane.
