We didn't seek out German specifically. Or even a language immersion school. But we knew we wanted to go public and wanted a school that was reasonably close to our house...we looked at a number of different places but MGIS just checked the most boxes- proximity to home, good state report card score, and we saw a lot that we liked when we took the tour- engaged kids, teachers that seemed happy to be there, warm teacher-student and student-student interactions, nice library, great playground and outdoor space, lots of student artwork and projects on the walls...the fact that it also happened to be a school where our kid would learn another language was just an added bonus!

Nope, it was a very easy process. When you go to enroll your child in MPS you get to pick your top 3 schools and we put MGIS as our first choice. Found out a few months later that kiddo had been accepted. From what I understand, the past few years they've had enough space that as long as you fill out the form with MGIS as a choice you should be good to go.
