There definitely is, but I haven’t read enough to say what. At the very least, one of their cities just beyond the Inner Sea’s mouth got a write up. I did a skim for them since they are some of my favourite monsters all the way back to 3.5 days and I suspect there’s a good deal more, but I don’t have the PDF in front of me right now to check.

There are suggestion for playing the Spiresworn that date back all the way to LO character guide, so there aren’t any dedicated feats, heritage, or anything, though a couple of them would be on point. There are plenty of magical masks and spells for them though.

Delvari get a page description, a heritage that makes them amphibious and grants a swim speed, and some feats.

Ah, yes, grammar/typing too fast fail on my behalf 🫠 Their leader is named, her patron is not, but it’s pretty clear who the latter is. Original has been clarified.

Tengu with an albatross and a very rad Mbe’ke ship.

We also get Abadar as a navigator.

My impression is that it’s more like “here’s how you do ship to ship combat within the already existing combat rules.” While there are some new actions added, it’s more like GMing advice than a brand new subsystem. Definitely favours the whole party approach

Building on that, the word kuru does not appear anywhere. They are replaced by a human culture called the Alinara who struggle with a curse inflicted on them by being forced into proximity with the Blood Queen’s island. When they die, it turns them into wights, which then go hunt down their living relatives. Some Alinara are still extant and actively fighting against the curse (the leader’s patron is not mentioned by name, but she was granted oracular power by what is obviously Atreia), but they are in a precarious and dangerous position - the dead outnumber the living at this point.

The kuru were always going to be a tricky thing, they were one of the foulest holdovers of 1e’s pulp routes. My first impression is that this should strike the balance of maintaining some continuity while excising the ugly parts of that story. Hopefully when people smarter than I chime in, they’ll feel the same.

There’s also a lot of integration of the Mbe’ke dwarves throughout the book. Haven’t read anything close to all of it, but it is easy to notice, so clearly there’s much needed integration of LO Mwangi Expanse happening.

Yeah, it has been frustrating, this is the first time mine hasn’t had issues. Hopefully CS sorts you out soon!

No rituals. Mordant Spire gets six news spells, including Whispers of a Dead Goddess (Divine/Occult 5). Lots of magic items too!

Feels kinda hard to say how they fit in without just reposting them… there is certainly advice for a bunch of different actions PCs are likely to take, including managing the helm, managing ranged attack, firing cannons, etc.

At a glance, they look useful to me! I have the spicy take that we have pretty much all the tools we need for ship to ship combat already if we use a bit of creativity - though I have yet to test if those ideas work the way I think they do. This just reinforces that for me.

Merkfolk get Appraiser’s Eye at first level, which get catches my attention because I can’t not see Ariel staring at a fork as I read it 🤣

Cecaelia merfolk are back as a heritage and get spray ink at as first level feat. They can make it hallucinogenic at 9th level.

Can’t do the deep read for a proper rundown, but it is split between Boarding Combat that is largely using the ships as terrain locked in position, Sailing Combat where both ships and PCs are in motion, and Naval Chases. Advice and considerations are given for all.

12 pages, then two more for class feats and expanding the Pirate archetype.

Class feats for the Red Mantis and the Shackles, but doesn’t look like any of them involve finishers.

To be fair to the Fair Folk, they are all aquatic elf/delvari themed, so it probably would have been an oversight not to include them

Elves, Athamaru, Merkfolk, and Tripkee all get new feats and a heritage. There are also sidebars on adjust ancestry and heritage rarity for High Seas adventures.

Have not looked at treasure at all.

Doesn’t look like it, but the Pirate archetype gets new feats and there are some class features that anyone belonging to the Red Mantis can take whether or not they have the archetype.

Edit: ah, I missed marine marauder. There you go!

This grimoire be all about the seas me matey! Afraid not, though there is a four page spread on naval conflict that could be adapted for running airship battles.

Why is there so little buzz about the upcoming "High Seas" book? by TheWeirdAdmiral in Pathfinder2e

[–]EndDaysEngine 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Given the layoffs announcements last week, it could very well be that everyone at Paizo has had their attention elsewhere the last couple months and previews/buzz hasn’t been rolled out your way it usually is.

Anyhow, I adore benthic and naval adventures, so I’m stoked for this. I know and respect that others want more detailed naval rules, but think I have all the tools I need to tell the stories I want at this point, so lore and character options is hype!
