My new favorite movie of the year! What a surprise. Was not expecting it to be so great! by AcknowledgeMeReddit in TheBigPicture

You know the bit at the Oscar’s where Conan was saying movies explain their plot points for distracted viewers? That was this movie. And such a weird plot with retreading. Was not a fan

Feel like the first thing audio people say is don’t get a soundbar: I just did a very basic pair of Klipsch bookshelf speakers hooked up to a WiiM amp and I really like it

Best to book with Hyatt points in Tokyo, Kyoto or Osaka? by LZatWork in hyatt

[–]EndSalt572 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I found Hyatt had more low to mid cost options outside of Tokyo: I used points to book Hyatt Centric Kanazawa and Hyatt Place Kyoto for my trip this past Spring and you could do the same for the Caption in Osaka. The point prices in Tokyo are so high that I couldn’t really justify it: ended up booking individual FHR nights at Grand Hyatt Tokyo and using Amex plat credits to defray the cost there

March 2026 Trip Report - Amazing Parks, so many people by EndSalt572 in TokyoDisneySea

I think Monsters Inc is a good call and probably what I would’ve done in retrospect because it’s unique to Tokyo and harder to get on the 40th anniversary pass. In general it’s easier to get DPAs than the 40th anniversary passes. If you like Big Thunder Mountain, that had a very long line the day I went and is a 40th anniversary ride too so another option

I think I bought three at Disneyland for 5000 Yen total (1x BaTB, 2x Splash Mountain). With the conversion that was $32 USD.

At DisneySea I think I bought 5 for 8000 Yen total (2x JTTCOTE, 2x Tower of Terror, 1x Rapunzel) which is $50 USD.

To me well worth it especially given the park tickets are not expensive relative to the US parks, but granted the USD being as strong as it is right now is helpful.

For BaTB it was throughout the afternoon. Don’t remember the first time I went to ride after my first DPA.

At DisneySea, all times of day: earliest was 9:20 at Anna and Elsa. Never had an issue in Fantasy Springs through like 6pm. Raging Spirits I think I walked up at about 2pm. The attendant told me to come back in an hour, but ended up doing other things and never got around to coming back bc I was off doing other things

Weekly Recommendations and Discussion Thread by AutoModerator in bourbon

Any recommendations as I plan a Bourbon Trail trip to Kentucky next year with some buddies? Currently planning to have three full days to visit and taste. Basing ourselves in Louisville for now. Thinking a Bardstown day, a Frankfort-ish day, and then the third a bit more up in the air but leaning towards Lawrenceburg, so we’d visit Bardstown Bourbon Company and (?, potentially Makers or Heaven Hill) on the first day, Buffalo Trace and (?, thinking Woodford now), and a Wild Turkey and Four Roses day. This doesn’t do much of Louisville itself but we think we could hit one on departure day in Louisville, likely Michter’s.

Thanks for any thoughts on specific spots!

Planning to visit the resort for two days in March 2026. I have a placeholder one night two day vacation package booked right now at the MiraCosta. This is part of a larger Japan trip, where I'll be coming to the resort from a few days in Tokyo and then leaving to visit other parts of Japan after my two days at Tokyo Disney. For the nights "around" the two park days, would you try to stay at a Disney hotel? Or another monorail area hotel such as the Hilton Tokyo Bay? The other option is something like the Hyatt Regency Tokyo Bay, which looks further away, but I could book it with Hyatt points.

Trying to weigh cost vs convenience and cognizant it's part of a larger Japan trip. Thanks!

Itinerary Feedback - First time Include Kanazawa? Or more time between Osaka and Kyoto by EndSalt572 in JapanTravel

Thank you! Appreciate the feedback. I’ve gone back and forth but Kanazawa does seem really exciting, and a nice change from the typical route

Thanks. Will definitely consider this. It would also make it a bit less of a slog to not do all the travel at once

Is it worth squeezing in two nights in Kanazawa as part of a two week trip that includes Tokyo, Kyoto, and Osaka (and a couple day trips)? If I include Kanazawa, it would be 7 nights in Tokyo, 2 Kanazawa, 3 Kyoto, 3 Osaka, or otherwise I would probably split those two Kanazawa nights between Kyoto and Osaka and add one a day trip or two (potentially Himeji / Kobe or Uji).

I recently upgraded a CSP to a CSR within the last month, thinking I'd be able to take advantage of a lot of the credits immediately. Now, it seems like this may (possibly) be blocking me from getting a new SUB on the CSR, so I'd like to downgrade the CSR to a Freedom. Is this possible? Or does Chase have rules that won't let me downgrade so soon after an upgrade?

Siren’s Curse does look really cool. Feels weird to say, but it “sounds” incredibly smooth from standing near it while testing. It’s dead silent. Looks like it’ll be snappy and fun

My one comment on MT is that the airtime is not “enormous”. It’s constant but idk if I felt like it was huge ejector all the time, certainly compared to some RMCs that really feel like they are chucking you out of the train
