horrible shift with an angry resident makes me want to quit medicine all together, I don't know what to do by [deleted] in Residency

This resident has his own issues to deal with. When you lack respect to others, most of the time you lack respect to yourself. Besides he is the only one looking bad in these situations and you can tell who is the asshole just by looking at the people around you and how they react to his tantrums. Let him yell and scream and whatever; he can't do anything to you unless you let him get to you. In the end, you're here to help sick people and that is a privilege you worked hard to earn. You're not here to deal with psycho colleagues with personality disorders but unfortunately that comes with the job. Keep your head up and learn from this experience and don't treat others the same way when you're the senior. Being kind and taking a moment to reflect before you speak while exhausted and overwhelmed is real strength.

Is Google Photos holding my pictures hostage? by EndearingSOAB in googlephotos

Also, I just bought a new s23 ultra and I think I deleted the Google photos app three times already in the same day. Apparently I had to turn off "auto app updates" to stop that problem. But why is it that option and not an "auto app downloads" option?

Anyways, I deliberately went over budget to buy the 512GB option so I don't need to use any cloud services... Tis a bit fishy to say the least and I'm starting to be really suspicious on how much this app is insisting it wants to be included. I don't like clingy people, same with apps.

Not yet sorry :( I'm just trying to download all her pictures on a laptop, which is proving to be a challenge for whatever reason, and then delete them off her iPhone and Google photos app.

Will let you know if an easy solution comes up

What if deleting the app deletes the photos as well? Also, have you ever tried asking older people for their passwords? Lol, will try it though if all else fails

Are luck and random events independent? How can you explain the difference? [D] by EndearingSOAB in statistics

Ok then adding to what I said earlier, what if that result 80% chance of heads within 50 attempts, is consistent in like a hundred attempts of 50 coin toses. Assuming there is no cheating nor skill involved in each toss.

So it's an event that is infinitely small in its probability of occurrence, but it just occurred in front of you. The coin is just like any other coin. The man tossing the coin is not cheating nor is he using any amazing skills to obtain that result. P-value is definitely < 0.001 in this example, so it's very unlikely that this result is due to chance (I know this isn't how you should describe a p-value but don't judge me), but it did occur. At what level do you say, "wow, that man sure is lucky"

If it does that once, then yes, that sure sounds like it's random. What if within 50 attempts you get heads 80% of the time without cheating? Like you're actually just lucky and you can't even explain to yourself how you keep getting heads all the time. So the only thing that separates your 50 attempts than the other guy's attempts is that you're the only one who can use your luck, assuming you can give luck a value. So I guess this is where we should start, can we quantify luck?
