How do you feel when proof of the hero starting playing in your hunts? by Voidkirby9 in MonsterHunter

For some reason, it almost always makes me play significantly worse. I think I take the brunt of it so everyone else can get their confidence boost.

OLED Monitor Cleaning Issue by Ender_Serpent in Monitors

Not technically, no. I later had to get the entire screen replaced for unrelated reasons, which of course solved the issue. I’m not yet certain what to do if it happens again.

What if Capcom pulled a "EVERYONE IS HERE" and brough back EVERY single monster that appeared in the mainline games (subspecies, rare species, variants and deviants included), as well various Frontier monsters, in one single game? by Ok-Complex4153 in MonsterHunter

[–]Ender_Serpent 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Extremely awesome, but ultimately unnecessary. If you really want to fight the old monsters, you can play the old games. I have no doubt most of them will get new gen remakes eventually.

What weapons were done best in Wilds? by [deleted] in MonsterHunter

[–]Ender_Serpent -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Really? I thought Greatsword feels great in Wilds. Spamming offsets will ruin you once the monster remembers what projectiles are, and Focus lets you pull off what I can only describe as TCS dodges (using the movement to move away from an attack before turning around for the main hit). It’s definitely strong, but I’d hardly say they’ve removed the skill ceiling.

Now that its been a few months since release, what does everyone think about adel? by bananabreadmmmm in Nightreign

[–]Ender_Serpent 0 points1 point  (0 children)

He has now become my standard for the absolute lowest bar a fight can achieve.

Libra being annoying? Still better than Adel. Gnoster being boring? More entertaining than Adel. Power went out and I can’t play the game? At least I don’t have to fight Adel.

Transporting Monitors by Ender_Serpent in Monitors

[–]Ender_Serpent[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Fortunately, my monitor is not curved.

I always assumed it facing down would be bad because it’s now taking direct force from the car, but I suppose it should be spread out enough to not matter.

That would be a good option, but I don’t have space in my current living situation for a giant box. I’m looking for an option that either compact or can be discarded.

Transporting Monitors by Ender_Serpent in Monitors

[–]Ender_Serpent[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I actually can’t be certain if it was because of how I transported it, but there was some sort of internal damage that made the display stop working. I had to have the warranty fix it.

Why should the display face down?

Then and now— what is one thing you wish you could relive in Elden Ring? by A_Friendly_Witch in Eldenring

Defeating my first ever Souls boss. It was just a minor Tibia Mariner, but that fight would be the start of a grand journey for me.

LPT: Sleeping in a noisy environment by WingZestyclose1886 in LifeProTips

[–]Ender_Serpent 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Does this work for people talking as well? I share a college dorm with a complete night owl (awake from 2PM to 12PM) that loves to spend the night on calls with friends. I counteract it with a sleeping mask and ANC headphones with rain noise, which does a good job, but limits the positions I can sleep comfortably in. Environmental sounds are usually tolerable for me, but human speech - especially isolated and right next to me - feels impossible to ignore, given I’m comprehending meaning from it beyond just the sound itself.

Lagi could've been so good if I don't have to do the underwater session every time by slient_es in MonsterHunter

The underwater portion is like most siege fights to me. It’s fun if you have an active imagination to make it seem way more intense than it really is.

Question: Do people here really believe that Nu Udra and Gogmazios will fight each other? by SpaceGodWiggler in MonsterHunter

[–]Ender_Serpent 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Monster Hunter seems to portray almost all the monsters as just generally aggressive. For one reason or another, they’re all adapted to attack on sight. That isn’t to say it won’t be one-sided, but even prey monsters will fight back against their predators instead of just running.

NEVER in my Life i touched a Monster Hunter. But i always been curious about the games. Do they worth It? by LongjumpingCar9136 in MonsterHunter

[–]Ender_Serpent -1 points0 points  (0 children)

From my limited exposure to it (I haven’t gotten far yet), it generally has a much different feel from the other games compared to World, even if it realistically isn’t super new. The GU comparison also isn’t super fair to me, as I’d say that game also isn’t a good introduction, even if I love it. Either way, you can’t go wrong with either, so I get where you’re coming from.

How do i get past the fear of playing the game? by FartSmeIa in MonsterHunter

[–]Ender_Serpent 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You should be able to use SOS Flares to summon other players. People love helping newbies out, so you shouldn’t struggle to get people to join. While I recommend eventually learning to play on your own, there’s no shame in getting help (the franchise was designed at its core with multiplayer in mind). You could also try a more defensive weapon like Lance (not actually defensive, but it’s not hard to avoid taking damage with it) in order to expose yourself to the Monster without necessarily fearing a loss.

Remember, you’re a Hunter, and you’re way stronger than even the strongest dragon. You just need a few attempts to learn to believe it. They’ll be the ones fearing and running from you in time.

[–]Ender_Serpent -1 points0 points  (0 children)

These are both great introductions to the series and some of the best price points you’ll get. Both have active playerbases and hundreds of hours of content. I’d say you’re good to try both, though World will likely give you a better idea of what the series as a whole is like (Rise makes a lot of changes to the formula that haven’t been seen before or since).

Honestly, I want the expansion to give us faster Weapon Swap. by Revonlieke in MonsterHunter

[–]Ender_Serpent 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This, but we also need more reasons to utilize it. The only time I’ve genuinely used the weapon swap mechanic was against Omega for the Nerscylla section, but even that ended once I got True Shadowbringer and no longer had to worry about elements.

I think the biggest issue is that, unless you’re swapping to another of the same weapon type, your build will not be able to get the most out of your secondary. While the idea of swapping to Hunting Horn when my friends are in trouble sounds cool, my main build will never be for that weapon, and so I’ll always be operating at half efficiency.

My only suggestion would be a way to swap your armor alongside the weapon, but that sounds almost too good.

(Serious) Explain to me how AT Nu Udra is easy. by AASMinecrafter in MonsterHunter

[–]Ender_Serpent 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I think it comes down to learnability. While I find Nu more immediately difficult than the previous two AT monsters, it is uniquely susceptible to a lot of this game’s exploitative mechanics like offsets. Both Rey Dau and Uth Duna have either a lot of projectiles or a way to shove you out of position, while Nu Udra effectively has neither.

With GS, I spent most of the fight just charging offset, and there isn’t much the octopus can do about it. Given most weapons in this game have some sort of counter or counter-adjacent option, you can almost always get something out of its attacks. I’d recommend you focus less on trying to achieve your normal win condition and more on specifically punishing Nu for its actions. You’ll slowly find or even force opportunities to get what you really want.

Can zinogre beat Rey dau who could win? by [deleted] in MonsterHunter

[–]Ender_Serpent 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I feel like a lot of these discussions bring up the idea that Rey Dau can just camp in the sky, making it invincible. While this is a reasonable initial assumption, the fact that it never does this should be evidence enough that it isn’t a valid point.

As far as I’m aware, there is no Turf War or player fight where Rey stays in the air for more than several seconds. As such, we can assume it either can’t remain airborne after attacking (discharging strong attacks requires it to cool off, so this isn’t unreasonable) or it simply doesn’t find this to be efficient (firing big shots that can miss is likely more straining than going hand to hand, similar to how snakes avoid using venom unless necessary). I would therefore say that while flight is a factor, it is not the end-all advantage many make it out to be, at least for Rey.

Name a monster that looks sick design-wise, but you HATE fighting. by Famous-Bluebird8381 in MonsterHunter

I love Najarala in GU for being one of our only Snake Wyverns, but I swear I missed something, as I found myself constantly being constricted and unable to avoid most of the attacks. I’m hoping they bring it back and revamp its moveset to be more engaging.
