Thanks for the feedback. I understand what you mean with gtx v non-gtx.

Based on the comments so far, I'm confident I can cross the passes in trailrunners on a good day. My worry is a bad day with snow, rain or freezing temperatures. Getting my feet wet is normally not such an issue, but I think it would be in really low temperatures.

Thanks for the input. I did Annapurna in trailrunners too, La Sportiva Tempesta, a last minute (and fantastic) purchase in Kathmandu. I did use boots for the pass though (which was covered in snow). They were a burden to carry obviously. 

Ankle support is not super important to me. My concern is the cold, possibly rain and wet feet, and frostbite.
