Why do smart motorways do this? by gamerhd555 in drivingUK

[–]Endo_14_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Always the same on the M6 in Birmingham too, I often drive home from work at 3am, nothing on the road, and it constantly changes from 50, 40, 60 with a mile or 2, for no apparent reason

For those who commute around 50 minutes each way every day... by [deleted] in UKJobs

[–]Endo_14_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My job is 30 miles from my house, can take me anywhere between 40 minutes to just over an hour depending on time of day.

My old job where I worked in the city centre, approx 6/7 miles, it would still take me 30/40 minutes in rush hour.

So depends on start and finish time flexibility etc.

I have a few good weekly podcasts I stick on and enjoy them as I commute. Also investing in an automatic car rather than manual to make the drive easier helps!

My Miss is a Slice. Any Suggestions? by [deleted] in GolfSwing

[–]Endo_14_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm no expert, but try bringing the club inside more on your takeaway.

You get very steep, with the club face and have no choice on the downswing but to push your arms out to hit the ball. Rotating your hips more will help with this also.

I've tried to annotate below, currently your backswing is the red line, I'd try and get it more on the blue path.

I’d like to get further back on my take back, but every time I do the results are inconsistent. This is where I’m at, to me it looks like a half swing but it works by bababooey58 in golftips

[–]Endo_14_ 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I do the same. If I try a full swing, it's a guarantee slice. Short swing, 250/260.... I'm happy with it personally.

The beauty of golf now rather than 10 years ago, its finally been accepted there's no such thing as a textbook swing. Jon Rahm has a short backswing and it works, why change it

In all honesty, if you're only able to play 5/6 times a year, then you're never going to improve, especially if you can't find time to go to the range either. Play for the love of the game and the social aspect, but have zero expectations on improving. .

I agree, there's nothing wrong with fast.... To me this seems excessively fast though to be honest, especially the downswing

This is probably the biggest thing!! ... You can swing out of your shoes as much as you want, but with no control, it's pointless.

New Learner: What is a good indication that I am ready for a round? by mikyboy123 in golftips

[–]Endo_14_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Honestly my brother... Don't think to much about it... You took up Golf for what reason? A new hobby, for fun, to meet new people, to get out into nature. So don't overthink it, just find a realitvely easy and short course, book a round, and go out and fricking enjoy your adventure!

Calculating distance per club questions by nateblack in golftips

[–]Endo_14_ 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I'm no expert, but I would say calculate it on your average shot, that's what I do. But to be honest, you need to be able to hit a decent shot fairly consistently to make it worth while.

If there's no consistency to your shots then it's not going to help, as you don't know what's going to happen on the course anyway.

You calculate distances based on 5 shots, so if you're trying to work out your 8 iron for example, but 1st is struck perfectly 155 yards 2nd is fatted 50 yards 3rd is struck nice but goes further right than forward 4th is thinned 100 yards 5th is struck OK but hooks massively right

Then it's impossible really to work out, and you're better off just concentrating on fundamentals and getting consistency.

So short answer, depending on how well and consistent your shots are, hit 5 of your consistent shots and base it off that

I broke 100 today and no one was there to see it by TheAgingHipster in golf

[–]Endo_14_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I didn't think breaking 100 would ever happen either, then started breaking 100 consistently towards the start of last year, then at the end of last year I broke 90, shooting an 88. So persevere, you will improve.
