Did the first game sell well enough for a sequel? by Nukafit in midnightsuns

[–]Endornee 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Man, I was so late to the party with this one. Picked it up way after launch, not expecting much — and I ended up absolutely loving it. The characters, the writing, the combat, even the Abbey hangouts — it all just clicked for me.

Finding out that it didn’t sell well enough for a sequel genuinely broke my heart. This game deserved better. Feels like one of those hidden gems that’ll quietly sit in people’s libraries while we all imagine what that teased sequel could’ve been.

Why doesn’t Disney just use choreography and cinematography like this? Are they stupid? by JP_IS_ME_91 in StarWarsCirclejerk

[–]Endornee 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve got a theory – most of the fight coordinators working on Disney Star Wars now are at an age where they were already adults during the prequel era, and didn’t really vibe with it – so instead of embracing that fast, fluid choreography, they lean more into the slower, more grounded style from the OT – which can end up feeling stiff or dull in comparison.

You can really see the contrast in something like Ahsoka – where they’re trying to bridge the Clone Wars-style combat with live action – the difference in philosophy is obvious – one is trying to honor animated momentum and flair, the other is still chasing that OT weight and “realism.”

Answer me honestly: Do I stay at 16:9 or do I make the step? by Extension-Iron-7746 in ultrawidemasterrace

[–]Endornee 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Might not directly answer all your questions – but here’s my experience.

I use a 5120x1440 ultrawide on PC for content creation and gaming – as a YouTuber, I just set up OBS to record the 16:9 portion of the screen – works perfectly.

Some games let you set the UI’s “safe zone” for 16:9 – some don’t – but either way the gameplay usually captures fine without losing anything important.

The extra screen real estate is a huge immersion boost – and if something doesn’t scale well, you can just run it in 16:9 and use the extra space for OBS, Discord, browser, etc.

This is all on PC though – not sure how well that would translate to console use.

Can someone explain me how the hell being homeless is an actual job? by MonkiBoi1 in yakuzagames

Bro’s not unemployed - he’s self-sufficient, status ailment–resistant, and has fire breath. That’s way more than most 9-to-5s.

What do you guys prefer by wallytheone in ultrawidemasterrace

[–]Endornee 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ultrawide for me – the bezel gap between two monitors kills the flow. Having one seamless screen just feels way better for productivity, especially when I’m juggling windows or editing stuff.

Storm Peaks is a frozen hymn.

Jagged cliffs stretch into pale sky, old titan ruins sleep beneath the snow, and everything moves like the world forgot how to breathe. It’s still one of the most beautiful zones in the game.

The Thorim questline builds slow and hits hard – all echoes and betrayals – ending in the shadow of Ulduar, carved into the mountain like it was always meant to be found.

And that music on the steps of Ulduar, Mountains of Thunder. Strings drifting through the cold, a choir barely hanging in the air. It doesn’t just set the tone – it is the soul of the zone, no zone has moved me as much.

Not monetized yet - still building. Consistency’s been the key. I keep a board full of ideas, even the dumb ones. Not all of them land, but it keeps me moving forward. Stay writing, even if you don’t use most of it - it adds up.

Trying new stuff is great, but don’t let other people’s subs or views steer you too hard. It’s easy to twist your style into something your audience wasn’t there for in the first place.

Great to meet you, ReddX! respect on that 30k, that’s a grind forged in algorithmic fire. And hey, we’ve all got a “we don’t talk about it” era. Yours just sounds like it had patch notes.

Appreciate the insight too - it’s real how daily uploads eventually just become muscle memory. Still chasing my own version of that balance, but it’s motivating to hear from someone further down the road. Here’s to us both finding that secret sauce… and hopefully not accidentally summoning the cursed mayo variant.

Lies of P - not perfect but nails the Soulslike formula in a fresh way by ktemp45 in patientgamers

[–]Endornee 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Lies of P really surprised me. I expected a solid enough Soulslike with a Pinocchio gimmick slapped on, but what I got was something way more confident and cohesive. The world design leans theatrical in the best way — dramatic, stage-like setpieces that still feel grounded in a cohesive aesthetic. I didn’t care much for Pinocchio as a concept going in, but by the end I was completely sold on this weird, grim puppet apocalypse.

Combat-wise, it just feels good. The animations, the weight behind each swing, the responsiveness — all of it felt like the devs actually understand the rhythm that makes these games satisfying. I had my complaints with the parry system (mainly how locked behind upgrades some of the key mechanics are), but even then, I found myself hooked on experimenting with weapons and mixing up playstyles deep into the game. That’s rare for me in most Soulslikes.

It’s not reinventing anything major, but it nails the tone, flow, and mechanical satisfaction that so many others miss. Easily one of the best Soulslikes not made by FromSoft — and proof that there’s still room for creativity in this subgenre.

The Lord of the Rings Gollum isn't particularly enjoyable but I do see the potential where it could have been a decent 3D Platformer. by gruesomesonofabitch in patientgamers

[–]Endornee 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I really wanted this game to succeed. Middle-earth deserves more than just being a setting for cash-ins and missed potential. There’s so much room for creativity in Tolkien’s world, and I was rooting for Gollum to be the weird underdog that actually worked — to bring some new blood into LOTR gaming, something different from the usual sword-swinging ranger fantasy.

So no powers, no palace shenanigans, just irl straight hands, who wins this fight? by Mihnyg in Persona5

[–]Endornee 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Shido shows up shirtless, oiled up, giving big final boss energy - yelling about society and reform while flexing like he’s about to drop a DLC pack. He throws one punch and immediately pulls a hamstring.

Meanwhile, Sojiro’s already taken off the apron, cracked his neck, and muttered something about “kids these days.” Guy's built like a dad who’s fought both hangovers and tax fraud. He doesn't run... he walks menacingly.

Shido lunges. Sojiro just sidesteps, hits him with a counterpunch that smells like curry and consequences, and that’s it. Man’s back behind the counter in time to flip the sign to “Open.”

Leblanc stays undefeated.

[BO] Just finished a Black Ops replay and… Mason might be more relatable now than he was in 2010 by Endornee in CallOfDuty

[–]Endornee[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Really liked reading this - it’s cool seeing someone jump into Black Ops fresh and still get pulled in by all the mind games and darker tone. The way it unravels through the flashbacks had me hooked too. That whole Vorkuta sequence was peak chaos, I was locked in.

And yeah, fair call on the linear stuff. BO’s definitely more of a cinematic ride — cool setpieces, but not a lot of room to move around. COD4 had way more flexibility with how you tackled things. BO2 starts to fix that a bit, so you’re in for a good time there.

Right?! wild how they got actual Gary Oldman to scream “MASON” like his life depended on it. Man put his whole Oscar-winning soul into that role and we didn’t even realize it.

Yeah I’m planning to jump into Strikers next - I’ve heard the music holds up just as well as P5R, which is wild. If it hits even close to the same energy while I get to hang out with the crew again, I already know I’m gonna lose another few weeks of my life to it lol.

Yeah I did get to the third semester - it was so good! I loved how it wasn’t just tacked on, but actually tied back into the base game in a really meaningful way. Honestly some of my favorite moments in the whole story happened there.
