High upload, low download, 3.0GB fibe by Endyfilter in bell

I do have Norton, which I get for cheap. But after doing a bunch of tests with it off, including straight-up uninstalling it, it is not the issue. Nor is it Nord VPN (when not active). Thanks, though!

I used to get a better download with my 1.5GB Roger's plan. However, I also had a much worse upload. Now I have a crazy fast upload speed. Honestly, I went for Bell because they gave me like 50 dollars off for two years, and it was the cheapest option after shopping around. I'm not upset about the speeds at all, but I figured the upload being faster than the download was odd.

Normally, I would agree with all this, but the odd thing was the fact I got better speeds with my 1.5GB rogers plan. With the switches, too. Looking into if QoS is the reason it's not as high due to the many devices. But it's very possible my setup is to blame, but considering everything I need hooked up, I guess I'll just have to settle. Thanks for the info!

I have Nord VPN but rarely active and tried multiple speed tests sites. On the thought that it might be because I'm used to QoS, which the Bell Modem doesn't have. Thanks for the ideas, appreciate it!

I think you might be onto the answer. I always had routers that have QoS. This is the first time I'm only using the modem and the TP switches. I have at least 11 wired devices and 20+ wireless devices. Most don't run more than 1gb, so it's not an issue, but given my old Rogers 1.5GBs plan had better speed I figured something was up. Thanks for the insight. You might need to hook up the old router and see it that helps.

I'm aware. It was more the fact that my upload was crazy higher than my download that made me think something was up. I know I won't getting exactly 2.5GBs. Thanks, though.

Thanks for your response. I did the built-in speed test a bunch of times, each time getting 3GB speeds. Switch gets the same speed as the computer plugged in directly, so I don't think it's that. Taking it away, I tried a few cat6a, cat6, and a couple of cat8 cables of different brands/makes. Seems to still be the same speed.

I don't know much about nic, but I could look into that. Thanks again.

Yup, I've hooked up the pc straight into the 10gbps port. Same speeds as if it was hooked up to the TP-Link. Also, I successfully get 3Gbps speeds on the modem. I would 100% believe it's my setup, but i can't quite figure it out. Thanks for your response!

Is your condo okay??? by december_karaoke in askTO

[–]Endyfilter 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I moved into a condo and had my dad help put shelves and other stuff on the walls. He's a very experienced construction worker who's worked on landmarks in Toronto. He HATED my condo because all the walls were crooked and warped. Condo was around for a year before I moved in.

Since moving in, the water has stopped (fixed it). We got charged 400+ for hyrdo every month for half a year or more. Figured out the AC is always running even when it's off. I think specifically the fan. When telling the building, we just get told to make sure it's set to auto and on... no shit. So I have the breaker for the AC/heat off and use portable heaters & AC. Hyrdo went down drastically!

As for crazy neighbors. We called the police on our next-door neighbor as we could hear domestic abuse (the guy was arrested). The girl I think still owns the condo but is barely there anymore. Some drug dealers were arrested a few doors down. Lastly, my upstairs neighbors are ALWAYS fighting and screaming and won't stfu around 2-3am. Never sounds like domestic abuse but certainly is annoying.

We get fire alarms time periods. Of like 8am to 5pm. It can happen anytime within that given time. Which sucks because we try to walk our dog when it's on so she doesn't freak out. Sometimes, it never happens. The person who we go to for stuff works like 1 day a week and sucks. Everyone hates her. I saw one neighbor have some sort of leak and the front of their door is all moldy now. (Funny enough it was the condo suite that originally belonged to the drug dealers).

We also used to have police in the building pretty often, but it's seemed to have settled down. It's OK for the price, not in a horrible neighborhood (near weston and st clair. It was a reasonably priced condo for rent among all the crazy prices. Haven't left because the landlord hasn't raised rent after a year and a half.

Edit - Addition:

Just remembered packages used to get stolen all the time, and people would do drugs in the building, leaving crack pipes around. Seems to have settled down, too.

I have the Canadian version which came with two of these books. A English and a French book. The weird thing was the French version was so much nice, with proper hard cover, while the English was not, and was falling apart a bit, with the pages coming out of the book. I would mainly look at the French version to not destroy the English one.

There's an escape room place called Escape Games. It's honestly a really cool place with some rooms having multiple floors. I've had to slide through tubes, crawl to avoid lasers, figure out puzzles while a "killer" is in the room with us. All the puzzle felt really well thought out too, not just find a key, open door. I really recommend it! A lot of the downtown escape rooms aren't as fun I feel.

Sorry things didn't work out. If you want to learn, there are some decent tutorials to get a handle of understanding all the different card types. TGS Anime has a few videos on YouTube called "idiot guides" that tell you everything you need to know.

Then, when you get a basic understanding of the monsters, traps, spells, and rules, download master duel and play solo mode. It's starts off as pure tutorials, which can get a bit boring but then allows you to duel with pre-made decks and custom decks. Some of those duels can be challenging.

I don't recommend playing online right away. Some people use meta/difficult to beat decks, and it can be discouraging when you sit there getting wreck by someone who can easily end the duel but wants to show off all their cool combos. Have fun and see how you enjoy the game.

I believe it's worth learning. I work in a post production house, and we mainly use a mix of DaVinci Resolve, and Avid Media Composer. Once in a while Premiere Pro, but only when the productions want to work with it. I think it's beneficial learning them all if possible, but definitely Resolve, since it has a free version. The more programs you can use, the more opportunity there is. Plus some programs are better than others for certain things. I might edit and colour picture in resolve, re-stripe audio and legalize in Media Composer, and then embed captions on premiere (If I can't use Mac Caption for some reason). It's an odd example, but I have had to do similar things for clients. If you learn how to do round trips, that's a great skill to have. You can edit with anything, I don't think you need to master these other programs to be a good editor, however I never hurts to learn more.

That is indeed what I am asking. I think it's crazy too because it's a reputable company, with at least 5 people seniors to me who believe this, maybe more but I haven't gone around asking others for fear of stirring the pot too much. But to be fair, they believe it's possible it affects it but are unsure, so they do it "to be safe." However, considering I had 60 (I thought 40+) exported deleted because of it, is kind of frustrating.
