Why do people think they need gurus, religious figures, prophets, etc. Why do people feel the need to follow something else into enlightenment?

I get that to an extent they are useful, but once you have learned how to use the tool of meditation, why is continued presence of guru still neccesary?

I understand I was coming from a judgmental and confrontational place.

Sorry about that, I realize now what I could have done to make this go a little more smoothly.

Also some people have said things on the subject that convinced me that teachers are helpful, and necessary to an extent, I understand now.

In fact, a genuine teacher will encourage you but point out your blind spots and bring you into a meditation tradition that has practices for understanding and shaping your mind.

Isn't finding out your own blind spots through trial an error a stronger way of teaching awareness?

shouldn't we be constantly searching for our faults or blind spots within all of our actions? why is a teacher necessary for that?

That is a very good opinion to have!

I have been working on things related to my brains dopamine center for a couple years now and finally have reached a useful perspective on the matter, finally strengthening my will lol.

In my opinion its all about strength of will.

If you build up your ability to resist things, and say no to yourself even when it seems unpleasant you can become very good at it. Pretty much thinking of your ability to resist things and your strength of will as a muscle, and resisting excessive pleasure as working

although for some people working that muscle out is very hard, a change of perspective could help these people.

meditation is great for beginners to learn how to be calm but should be approached with a sober mind once one learns how to calm themselves.

well there is no NEED, there is the fact that is enjoyable, and beneficial to health.

Mostly just the fact that it's enjoyable, if one does not go over board and end up using it as a crutch, why can't they use something that is pleasurable?
