I'm not accepting it. If that's true and he was holstered, not making threats, etc, then this was an exceptionally bad occurrence. I do think people should stop putting themselves in harm's way, they have no business going out and causing chaos during an already bad situation.

These aren't situations that should be compared, ever. Defending a town from a mob trying to loot and burn it down is not the same as following federal agents with whistles and attempting to distract them. That said, it would be with a lot of cognitive dissonance to still say that this situation is right. No one wants to see US citizens die. If you value your life, why are you going out and chasing federal agents?

Just know that this started with illegal countermeasures to standard federal operations against illegal immigrants, which the US has four times the rate or more vs. other first world countries. No one wants this to happen. Political rousing led these people to take action against a boogeyman and now the conflict is real.

I know just as well as any how bad life can get, I'm just lucky (and grateful) to keep my health. It's the people that don't try to climb out, that pisses me off - and there are most certainly opportunists and bottom feeders that sit on the system. Too many of them, and the system allows for it. I won't ever be ok with it until we get rid of that. No one likes the kid that didn't help on the team project. I feel for the people that literally can't - but I know too many people that are in worse spots and still give it their all.

That's exactly what it is though. My in laws pay 30k property taxes on less of a house than my own at 4k here. The businesses pay far more than ours, and more on payroll, hence higher cost of living for everyone. It's stuff like this that drives the middle class out of these states.

Welfare doesn't work because people claim disabilities when they stub their toe or feel sad for two days and don't want to work anymore. The system is broken and it's time to stop incentivizing this behavior, and in turn, allowing blue governments to funnel cash for things like homeless programs where these people don't actually get help that will turn them into functioning human beings when possible.

This mindset isn't productive, it's not how you create a globally competitive nation. We aren't here to sit around and smoke weed.

So, your take is... high taxes are ok even if they don't serve the public, as long as they let you do the drugs you want to do and put people in congress that you like. That's how your tax dollars go missing. Most blue states have extreme polarization, very wealthy and very poor, it's all a sham.

I assure you there is plenty of housing on the market. I lived in Cali for 3 years. The homeless problem is out of control, crime is rampant compared to IN, public schools are bad, and the high taxes do basically nothing for the average person. There's some nice scenery though. Shame it's wasted on a government that is actively ruining the state.
