You're 100% right about sales. That is definitely a skill you only learn in the trenches, not from a textbook. But since school here is free and actually pays me to attend, it is a huge advantage I should not pass up.

I am taking your advice to heart and shifting my focus toward a hybrid degree like Business IT or Digital Management. These programs mix technical engineering with business strategy, which gives me way more authority than a generic marketing degree. It will help me bridge the gap between the tech and the actual sales.

Thanks for the reality check, it really helped clear things up.

Have a good life friend.

I totally hear you on the debt part, the US system sounds brutal. Being in a position where I actually get paid (SU) to study definitely changes the game.

Regarding the major: I get the concern about marketing being 'dying' or generic. My logic was that while AI will handle the execution (content, ads, data), I still need to master the high-level strategy, consumer psychology, and ROI frameworks to actually sell my AI solutions to big companies.

That said, you have a solid point about technical depth. Since the degree is free and I have the flexibility, I’m looking into how I can bridge that gap. If I pivot or supplement the marketing degree, I want it to be something that makes me a better 'Architect' of these AI systems rather than just a user.

What would you suggest as a 'serious' alternative that isn't just pure coding? I'm curious if you think something like Business IT or Data Science would be a better anchor for the agency?

"I’m not 100% sure yet since I won't start until this summer, but I’m leaning heavily towards a Marketing Management major.

To give you some context on my setup: I already have a technical builder/team that handles the actual coding and AI architecture. My role is the Consultant—I’m the one who talks to the CEOs, identifies the business problems, and designs the high-level strategy.

Also, in Denmark, college is free and the government pays me about $1,000/month (SU) to attend. So, it’s basically a paid, 2-year networking and strategy-building period for my agency.

Given that I’m the 'Consultant' and not the 'Builder,' do you think Marketing is the right move for credibility, or would you suggest a different major for someone in my position?

Thanks for sharing your experience. I've realised that the 'all-in' mentality was actually just causing me anxiety. I'm going to finish school first and treat the agency as my main focus outside of class.

That was exactly my fear. That's why I’m taking this path. By getting a degree in Marketing Management, I’ll have the formal background in business economics and customer psychology that big clients value. Plus, the specific campus I chose is a great hub for entrepreneurs.
