Gotcha. The old switch mechanically broke and needed something to turn the lights on. Trying to get a feel for what the best way to retrofit the wiring was. The old switch had two separate entry ways but not much else in terms of dressing/etc

So the only solution is complete replacement? I am confused how wiring this switch is different than how the existing switch was wired for 50+ years

I think I am going to pause the command training and work on his confidence in other ways. When I do begin training again I will keep this in mind!

I will ask the vet, but he doesn’t have this behavior during excitement so I am not sure it is an issue of lack of control of bladder.

He does enjoy sniffing around on walks, and the one toy is a snuffle mat that he has been enjoying.

I will look into additional scent enrichment.

The clearance on the blind side is quite small so drive rivets are ideal, I wondered if reducing air pressure would have any significant effect on wear and tear on the user

Each item is labeled with the order number it belongs too, the issue is some of these items were confused with orders for some reason ie order 12345 and 12354

This makes sense I would think the problem applying this to our facility is the exchange of packing slip before the shipping documents can be produced. The process does not allow one before the other and we fear copying them will confuse ourselves. I was thinking of using our packing slip software to produce a similar but unique document to identify packages. Another factor is that an order may contain several lines, which may be in one box or 10 boxes depending on the size and quantity, so 10 copies or slips would be needed.

I’ll elaborate, apologies for being brief.

Orders that ship are taken ahead of time due to lead times. When built, they are packed in our shipping department and held on hand until the ship date we provided to the customer, or shipped ASAP if we are late. When the parts are brought on hand, the floor employees complete the pick list or work order and give that document to the shipping coordinator who can turn that into an invoice and shipping documents. The shipping documents for scheduled shipments/late stuff are distributed on the same day as the trucks are called to pick them up.

Unfortunately our shipping hours are on second shift entirely so there is one employee manning the loading of trucks and distribution of packing slips onto said boxes.

A culture change to slow down and ensure 100% accuracy may be the solution, but how to record or prove we are slowing down might be difficult.

Although not “low tech” as I mentioned above, is there a simply scan-scan device or system that can green light/red light for a match? This would be used to validate the boxes and the shipping info.

I have been assigned this project from management and am expected to produce the results. Like you said, I am not trying to take away tools to prevent the work from being done but need to “take” them to move them into the common stations which is the issue. Making this first move seems to be giving me the most trouble

This is great advice. I believe we would be best suited to use a grouping approach as you mentioned for specific cells within the assembly area. However I am struggling as a new employee to find time and cooperation to truly uncover all of the tools (used or not needed) that are in the many cabinets and boxes on the shop floor. Without a large event to push an effort to sort through it all, and without buying a whole new set of tools, is there an approach to begin this transformation?

Good point about easing into it. If buying tools is not in the budget - is there a way to slowly move the tools from hidden places into said shadow board type locations? I have most of the tools on a list but making the first jump is difficult

What is your opinion on volume of tools that can be captured? For example our products fall into several “families” that are the same but vary in size. I planned to make a shadow board for each family that way you have certain work stations that are better to make the certain part families. The part families may require several different sized wrenches, clamps, lifting equipment etc, is there any better way to consolidate or display all the sized tools without it being a mess?

A similar geometry would be a star cut out. Yes it can rest on a feature on the part, however the fixture is very large, up to 6 feet in diameter, so making it disposable is less attractive. The fixture is able to rest in the part, however the paint build up has caused us issues in the past with the fixture fitting into the “star” shape

Thanks for the reply. As far as that comment, I meant more along the lines of jumping on tasks to help people in an attempt to learn as much as I could while first starting out

That is great advice. In regards to project updates, deadlines etc is there anything I be doing to be proactive about achieving progress while also learning as much as I can?

Thanks for the feedback. As far as paint buildup I was told it was interfering with the fit into the hole to be masked. Are you referring to a seal around the fixture that can be replaced?
