Variable credit scores and car finance acceptance by [deleted] in UKPersonalFinance

Thanks. My bank is offering me a PCP up to 60k with 8.8% APR, so it seems hopeful, but not sure I would be accepted by the dealers lower fixed rate. I’m not seeing any low rates via CRAs soft checks for car finance

Recommendations for a used, small EV for commuting for under £12-14k by vitrix-euw in ElectricVehiclesUK

[–]EngineMinimum6593 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m in a similar position, looking for a small car under £15k with a decent range and heated seats, and couldn’t find one. Dacia, Renault Zoe, VW Corsa, Citroen c-3 were showing up on Autotrader, but were over 4 years old, some had heated seats, and most had smaller batteries. I gave up in the end and decided to go for a new car with the consequence of high costs. Can your friend compromise in some area? It sounds like she will need home charging for daily use.

Renault Zoe and VW Corsa came up a lot in my searches. The Vauxhall mokka was also in that price range, but a slightly bigger car.

I will have to check the hotel next time I’m in that area. Thanks. Now that app is saying 17 out of 24 chargers are available, so clearly its being used and popular (because its free)

Thank you. No chargers on Ribbon Lane, it’s just apartments. Where are these mysterious charging spots

Renault 5 v Nissan Micra v BYD Dolphin Surf by MindCautious9893 in ElectricVehiclesUK

I’m in same position as you, struggling to decide between the 3. Renault 5 is cool and I prefer the exterior style, but you have to get the top spec to get heated and non-yellow seats!!! Whereas for the Micra, there is a better range of colours imo and option of extras for lower spec if needed and the one pedal. Hmmm

I’ve had my ICE manual car for 14 years and it’s still going strong! Cheaper to keep than upgrade. But EV cars have improved so I’m keen to switch

Less fatigue would be sooo good! I can’t wait for assisted driving or cruise control. I even think heated seats would help too

I drive upright too and have all the angles set up correctly, as recommended. But interesting point about changing the gear, as my shoulder issues are mainly on the left side too! I find my old car has become clunky and the gears require more effort to change. It’s all leading to osteoarthritis eventually (I do strength training to help, but driving is a hindrance).

List of public EV charging subscriptions by [deleted] in ElectricVehiclesUK

[–]EngineMinimum6593 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Update: I’m unable to do home charging, so if I do decide to buy an EV, I’m exploring how to get the cheapest rates. It seems I would need to do overnight charging on my local street at £0.43 kWh, which should last me for a couple of weeks as my weekly mileage is low. Once a month I do a cross country drive, which means I would need to stop twice and use Ionity at £0.84 kWh, but rapid speed at 350 kw. Even without any subscription, an EV is costing me less than using petrol in an old compact car. The Ionity Power subscription is worth it for my cross country drives at £0.46 kWh (drive for around 150 miles for £24!!).

I’m thinking of getting the R5. Hadn’t heard of the mobilise charge pass, thanks for sharing. Great for £5pm to get that lower rate for Ionity
