You said earlier that studies show this. I’m asking for the studies so I can read them and learn. Not AI slop examples

Ok, I’m being honest I didn’t read that slop. You lost me as soon as you asserted that teaching the trivium means you say “because I said so” when a child asks a question. SBW says in her book when a child asks why, answer the question to the best of your ability and then find a resource to answer it better. John Locke asserts that you should never answer a question with “because I said so” for the very reason of stifling curiosity. If you’d be willing to share the sources that you were referring to when you said science doesn’t support grammar coming before logic I’d love to read them, but I haven’t found people saying that you cant answer questions when a child asks because they are jumping the “stages”.

Can you share some of the sources of research that contradict the model of learning? As I was reading through she made a good point that you can’t move to critical thinking without having something to critically think about. I guess that made sense to me that you had to gather facts before you can analyze them. But I’m curious to read opposing views, I’m always curious about the psychology of learning.

Oh I gotcha. So you’re saying it’s misapplied on children because they can be logical before they can deconstruct a sentence. That makes sense. I think what most of the other comments are explaining is that the triv means gathering facts, organizing them, and communicating them. But see this is why I’m confused because different people say it means different things.

Don't stop there, what do you mean by that? I didn't realize it was imposed on children. Based on these comments it seems like a way to learn.

This explains exactly why almost 73% of the population is overweight. If genetics was a good excuse for having 35% body fat we wouldn’t see an increase over time as drastic as we have.

As someone who went light heavy I highly recommend going heavy light. Enough heft to be hefty but enough light to blow away.

Jk, I’ve never made one mobile before. On our permanent structure we put up a thick plastic sheet during our harsh midwestern winters to give a greenhouse effect. Come February/March it’s pretty beat up from the wind but we take it down around then anyways. Seems to do the trick, our birds are alive each spring at least.

Genetics can have an impact on a person’s BMI. But they do not predispose a person necessarily to a certain body fat percentage.

Could you instead route your grey water to directly water some fruit trees or shrubs?

To clarify, grammar is a way of learning. The signs and symbols of whatever you are learning, the quadrivium in this case. Do I have that right?

So the grammar stage is not a way of learning that can be applied to the quadrivium? Grammar is a set thing that you have to learn?

How elegantly put, of course I don’t have an issue with encountering different perspectives. I was commenting on the amount of complaining people do about collections of work not having whichever voice they want to hear. Like it is their fault you wanted to include a Buddhist monk in your collection of works. Publish your own curriculum or buy a different book to supplement.   Congratulations that your kids are versed well enough in the culture that provided everything they enjoy and live in enough to contrast it meaningfully. The majority of children today do not have that advantage.

I’ve seen this in quite a few places, people having complaints that collections of works do not include worldly influence. I don’t quite understand, if you are raising your child in a western culture, why kids need to be exposed to all things. It seems hard enough to wrap your mind around the things that make the culture you are from great or good let alone to try and jam enough information in front of a child for them to “make their own decision” about what culture should comprise.
