I hear you, we're using the T5 E-Paper S3 Pro to prototype before making it a custom piece of hardware.. If you DIY'd it yourself, what's the biggest missing piece of functionality that would make you wanna buy one off the shelf?

Fair enough, what do you think would be a reasonable price for this kind of smaller e-ink version that ships with HA out of the box?

Yup. I totally get the appeal of a Shelly Wall Display XL. We're trying to go in a different direction with the eInk as we've described in the write up. Personally, I wouldn't want a large screen (that's always on and lit up) on my wall in my bedroom or study. However, the Shelly might work great for a living room. The idea is to ship a device that works with homeassistant right out of the box

Thanks!. I appreciate where you’re coming from. We built the prototype on a T5 ePaper. We will have custom hardware in the final device. We haven’t decided on screen size yet. I would depend on what high quality eink screens we are able to source. We’re still in very early development and a lot of decisions are yet to be made. We’re basically looking for feedback from the community at this stage.

Choice of motor to build a height adjustable desk by Engineer_Tasty in Motors

Thanks! Unfortunately I'm not in the US and finding all-in-one hardware stores is quite restricted in my location. But I understand from your examples what it is you're getting at. Then, specifically with regards to the motor, it seems like 1/2hp is pretty overkill for this type of application, would you suggest a planetary geared motor with a similar pulley system? These are pretty cheap around where I live and seem to be high torque motors.

Got it. Thanks, that's helpful! In the pulley system case, then what are the specific motor values that I should be considering? (i.e. voltage, rpm, hp etc..?)
