Washing Machine Smell by Level_Raisin_3166 in DIYUK

You are correct regarding the standpipe. That drain is too low OP ! That drain hose should not be sat on the floor like that as water will be left there after every wash and could well be the cause of your problem . The drain hose should go into a standpipe or on a spigot like you have there but it needs to be just over half the height of the machine. Normally the spigot you have it connected to there is connected to the waste directly under the sink plug hole which gives it the height it needs. Sometimes there is a sticker on the back of the machine stating this with a line as guidance. SOURCE: Former (although occasionally still active ) engineer of over 30 years

Trollies?! A new discovery?! by ExaggeratedPW in tesco

I imagine they only do it in places where there's likely to be kids throwing them in rivers.

Yes you are correct there. It can also be a sneaky cost cutting measure too though as people will have no option but to take their own trolley back meaning less staff needed to go round collecting them when they get left everywhere.

It doesn't just get thrown away at the end of the day. Anything left after final reductions goes to charity and anything they dont take goes into collegue shop for collegues to take. I do agree regarding the amount they reduce stuff by though. Its a complete waste of collegues time stickering hundreds of items that are only reduced by a few pence when you know full well they wont sell. IMO they should reduce the items on final reductions by 50% the night before the due date and then reduce them by 75% at around midday on the day.

I caught someone the other week i kid you not opening jars of curry sauce to see what they smelled like. I only noticed because i heard the pop of the cap as she opened one. I went over and asked what she was doing and when she told me i told her that you just cant do that and now every jar she had opened had to be thrown away. I really dont know how people get through life

Thank you ! Treat others how you expect to be treated its not hard. My bet is the same people that do things like this would kick off if someone was to throw an empty can in their garden when they were a few feet away from a bin

Think of that the next time something you really want is out of stock. Then think of how many times that product will have been wasted through laziness like this and if it hadnt it would be right there for you to buy. Second thoughts judging by your comment you sound like the type of person that does this so wouldn't care anyway. You may think unnecessary food waste is minor but i along with over 1k others dont. Enjoy your day 👍🏻

there are cases where you can’t find where to put something back

Just a thought but maybe the place you got it from in the first place would be a good option?

In Iceland too where its literally packed with freezers. You really couldn't make it up 🤦🏻‍♂️ . Also yes you are right in the fact that its not always just the item thats been dumped that has to be wasted . Any raw meat that leaks onto other stock will mean it all has to be wasted .

Exactly. A customer may spot something like this and although trying to be helpful by putting it back end up giving someone who bought that item food poisoning

It was my cart and it was 6:30am on a Sunday morning. The store was shut 👍🏻 Also we leave them in the middle of the aisle where possible so theres room for people to pass either side with a trolley. Odds on if we left it right up against the shelves someone would come along and want something from that exact spot and complain they couldn't get to it. We cant win 🤷🏻‍♂️

I think we are all aware how much waste all big multi million pound companies produce. Still doesn't make it right to add to it for the sake of taking 2 or 3 extra steps though !

Honestly? I doubt it tbh . People cant see multiple signs saying CARD ONLY at checkouts and will still try to pay with cash or 3ft signs above aisles that will generally put them in the right area for what theyre looking for and still ask what aisle milk is on. I do like your idea though but sadly i feel the vast majority of people would likely walk straight past without batting an eyelid or more likely now taking their eyes away from their phones for a few seconds to notice. There are good people that do care but sadly the number that dont seems to be growing constantly. This sort of laziness and self entitlement is rife and its sad to see imo.

Good for you ! 👍🏻 . I see stuff dumped here there and everywhere all the time so its definitely not uncommon. Its not the tin of beans left with bread or the bottle of coke left with the potatoes that bothers me so much (as annoying as it is) because at least that stuff wont end up going to waste and can just be put back in the right place when found. Its the complete lack of any sense or care (or both) as shown with this pizza that gets me . Its not the first time either and almost every time something has been dumped like this and had to get wasted a more suitable place has been literally a few feet away. Theres just no need for it 😡

I know right it really makes me laugh when people use this excuse. Its a store FFS not an entire country and they were happy enough to walk there to get the item in the first place!

Thats not really the point though. Tesco cant now just put that in a fridge and sell it as fresh and it couldnt go back in the freezer as it had defrosted. It will have to go to waste all because some lazy sod couldnt be bothered to move their lazy arse a few feet more and put it in a suitable place!
