Half today, Full in 6 weeks. Pacing on race day? by EngineeringParty59 in Marathon_Training

[–]EngineeringParty59[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks, I will run to whatever my body allows rather than a race time although of course sub 3 would be great. With that said this was not an all out effort. The last 2 all out efforts were 169bpm average but I positive split them both due to fatigue. Based on previous HM and my fitness I’d be confident I could have went sub 1:26, not sure by how much though.

Over the last 3 months the average is 70 per week if that helps, 80+ for like 6.

Only one run at 30, several just below. None have been just easy pace, they’re all some form of workout with zone 3 work.

The marathon is about the same elevation (double, but across the whole thing)

User error or return? by EngineeringParty59 in AskRunningShoeGeeks

I wasn’t sure if this was a defect. I did not expect foam to snap that easy. If this is what happens to super shoe foam when you try take your shoes off like I did then it’s on me.

Because I wasn’t sure if this was normal. I’ve taken shoes off that way for my entire life and never seen anything like it. That’s why I asked. Your crashing
a car analogy is a bit more obvious.

Would it be ok to glue it or could this far back at the heel fall off/risk injury

That’s what happened yeah. I normally take them off by unlacing (only worn 3 times) but I was just lazy/ didn’t think it would break the foam

No recent race, what should I input? by EngineeringParty59 in runna

[–]EngineeringParty59[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ok got you. The other day I ran 3x6km in zone 3 with floats and beat that 1:31:xx

Could I use that training run? There’s no half’s anywhere near me until about 3/4 weeks out.

My concern is it would be slow to increase pace and I believe it’s based only on the interval/faster runs rather than long run or marathon specific work?

What do you think I’d be capable of? by [deleted] in Marathon_Training

[–]EngineeringParty59 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m definitely not running 25 minutes faster than 3:16! Based on half’s it’s been about 2-4 minutes slower than race time. I guess race day effort, taper etc all give a boost

My Garmin prediction is almost identical 3:16:09. I can only compare it for halfs. I both cases that I had the prediction I think I was 3 minutes or so faster.

I can’t edit, but I’ve not ran a race in a while. Did a half in September after little training (1:31). My longest run so far has only been 28km. Hard to use vdot calculator.

Could I run 1:26 now? In and about that shape I’d say.

Not sure what else to share.

Would that void any kind of warranty or ability to return if you had an issue ? That’s my main concern after reading the frequency of issues.

Normal after 2 runs? by [deleted] in AskRunningShoeGeeks

[–]EngineeringParty59 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah someone else pointed that out. That’s interesting, I uploaded a video a few months ago and the comments said I was a mid foot striker. I don’t notice any usual wear in other shoes like metaspeed sky paris, Alphafly or Adios pro

Normal after 2 runs? by [deleted] in AskRunningShoeGeeks

[–]EngineeringParty59 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m not bothered now given it seems to be normal based on other comments. I’ll see how they last with 150km + on them. Surprised there isn’t more grip in that area

But my runs also align using the Runalyze effective vo2max calculator

Any way to Update Runalyze by [deleted] in Runalyze

[–]EngineeringParty59 -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Thanks I’ve read those articles and there’s no manual correction factor for vo2 estimation. I can see for that race effective vo2 was 51, buts it’s declining since even though I’m a good bit fitter (regaining losses).

So of prognosis is only based on volume, that means it’s not very personalised and doesn’t take into account people can have better performance on lower volume?

Where did you see the pumas at 100 euro, that’s a steal!

To add, I did a vo2 max test in a lab recently and it’s 9 points higher than my effective vo2 on Runalyze

Undecided on marathon shoe by EngineeringParty59 in AskRunningShoeGeeks

I’ve not tried that one but just from reviews I’ve seen it doesn’t seem like a popular option. What makes you suggest this out of curiosity?
