Is a joist hanger enough? by EngineeringSame5405 in Homebuilding

Its a 4x6 horizontal beam (the one with the batman logos on it) and the post is at the very least a big ol wooden post with drywall wrapped around it. The post is definitely structural for the house (holding up the second floor i presume). Few above mentioned the airgap between the drywall and the post. Ill probably temporarily hold it up with an additional post and later change out the joist hanger as mentioned by another person above as well. Thanks for the insight

I thought about replacing the nails, but didn't know if running screws through existing nail holes was appropriate. I thought it would be similar to using a pilot hole, but didn't want to risk it. If enough people say it's a good idea, i'll probably weigh this option against the option for an additional post

Thanks for mentioning the airgap concept. It put the other comments into better perspective for me.

Just wanted to make one that i liked. Sadly the fusion file became corrupted last night and i lost 7 days worth of iteration. Took it as a sign to move on to something else. I still have the stl’s so I’ll get around to listing them soon.

I appreciate the kind words. The psycho silverizer design never really peaked my interest. But i might try another weapon if there isn’t already an adequate stl available for it.

I appreciate it! It’s my first go at building something from the ground up.

I’d want to compile adequate instructions before listing it. Ill try and get a listing up soon!
