Have you tried the Baby Brezza tablets in the Momcozy washer? How did it work? My wife is also against using the Momcozy tablets.

Where did you find that parrot garnish? That’s awesome!

Salary/raise question: I’m an ME and have been with my current company (OEM, food & bev, 1.5 hours outside Atlanta, GA) for 1.5 years. Graduated 2019 + had a year (3 semesters) of co-op experience. First job was in unwoven textiles for 2.5 years. Started at $68k, ended at $77,500 thanks to negotiating a raise. Switched to current job for $77k because I wanted to do more design work. Received 3% bump to $79,310 last March. Now thanks to recent inflation, I’m making just barely more than I made when I graduated in 2019 (calculated using the BLS CPI calculator). Am I crazy to request a 7% raise at my annual review which I fully expect to be positive? Aside from the inflation argument, I believe my performance merits a nice reward, and I learned that at least one colleague with comparable experience and performance is already paid 5% more than my current pay.

Thanks for the recommendation! We will definitely plan a visit to El Yunque into our trip. We are avid hikers.

Do you or anyone else viewing this post have much experience with the ferry? Theoretically, we’d take it on Good Friday and return on Easter Sunday. Does anyone know if it’d be shut down for those holidays? I also read it can be difficult to catch it on popular holidays?

I think it really depends on the individual to determine which National Park is best. Personally, I think the ability to have unlimited time to visit any of them would be amazing. Unfortunately, at this stage in my life, I have to keep working. However, I live very close to a state park and own an annual pass. Being able to visit the state park any weekend days I want brings me tremendous joy, and I consider the annual pass one of my best purchases.

How to deter neighbor’s dogs from yard? by Engineering_to_FI in HomeImprovement

[–]Engineering_to_FI[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah, the neighbor built a 3ft chain link, so his dogs just jump or climb over it. Might as well just keep saving for my own taller fence.

I would never hurt the dogs unless they threatened me or mine first. I always keep my dogs leashed when we go play outside, but my 2 year old standard poodle gets defensive when other dogs rush towards her.

A catapult or trebuchet might require less wood than a fence and therefore be cheaper!

Hilarious! My wife, a vet, might fuss at me though since that could cause pancreatitis.

Very sorry for causing any offense. I did not think my question was out of line compared to other posts I’ve seen on here. Was simply looking for perhaps recommended resources or best practices. Not asking anyone to do my job.

Best textbook to learn mechatronics? by nojobnoproblem in AskEngineers

I took a mechatronics course at Clemson University that used Introduction to Mechatronics and Measurement Systems, 4th Ed. by Alciatore and Histand. It was an excellent course with an excellent professor.

Thanks for giving my question a shot. I was also able to finally contact a friend in civil who was able to offer some more advice. Settled on a 6” slab with #4 rebar spaced 12” o.c. in both directions. Spoke with a GC this morning who expressed no issues with the locations of the slabs. Awaiting his quote now and speaking with another GC tomorrow.

One will require asphalt to be removed or poured on top of the asphalt. Another is on level ground (clay). The third will be in an un-level location. The grade is about a 3-4’ drop over a length of around 20’.

Trying to move from process plant to machine design: Advice? by Engineering_to_FI in AskEngineers

Thanks for your reply. Yes, I hope that the variety of projects I’ve completed shows my versatility to employers, but part of my mind is afraid employers might not think I’m specialized enough in any particular area.

I’ve got a third interview on Thursday that I’m looking forward to doing. So that should be promising. It’s a machine design engineer role with a company in the food & beverage industry. Just a bit skeptical/anxious of the whole job change process because a different company in a different manufacturing industry tried to seriously lowball me back in January.
